Is anyone running a decat without a remap just standard does it give you any problems with over spool or what not?

At the risk of asking the obvious... Why would you?

The standard exhaust is pretty free flowing anyway and will handle decent power upgrades.

I have a custom exhausts anyway I just heard a few people run decats from standard and was wondering if if did damage to the turbo or car.

It can cause over spooling of the turbo due to the way VNT works. MOT fail very soon as well.

Oh ok I was just curious, thought it caused problems with the turbo. But on the other hand I heard that if its not remapped its fine and doesnt overspool.

There was a big long thread on here a while ago, one of the mods is a MOT tester and linked us to the proposed new "handbook" for it. Diesels will still be ok to run a decat, even if the new proposals are put in place.

Rule of thumb is more or less what you wrote. However, even unmodified people(?!?) manage to break these turbos.

Decat will make it more likely to boost spike before the ECU can catch it. However, it should also mean the car's more responsive low down. You may pick up a few HP from reduction in backpressure but at the end of the day the amount of fuel stuffed in will be the same, so no major power increase at the top end.

Ah, yes, it will also be louder and may stink for a while afterwards....
