Selling the VRS unfortunately - Advice needed please!

Featured Replies

As above really,

I've decided It's now time to part with the Fabia VRS. I live In the city of Glasgow now so its Impractical to have the car as It's barely getting used.

A few questions I'm hoping some of you can help with answers..

Its a 55 plate, 1 previous owner with 43K miles on the clock, full service history and pretty immaculate In and out. Does asking for £5500 seem fair?

I've never put a car up for sale before and I'm hoping it will sell as soon as. Do any of you's have experience selling a Fabia VRS? Do they usually sell fairly quick or in your experience take a while to get sold on perhaps not so desirable?

Thanks In advance

Kevin

Best way to value it is to look on Autotrader, eBsy and maybe Pistonheads to see what others in similar condition, age and mileage are selling for. Tbh I think you could get a bit more for it than that imo :).

I think that is a great price to be fair.

I happen to know someone who's after a low milage vRS with a FSH, just out of curiosity you got any pictures of it? Asking price wise, dealers are around 6 to 7 maximum for that sort of milage from what i've seen. Private I think 5500 is very reasonable in my personal oppinion.

I think your asking price spot-on.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thanks for the reply's. It will be going up for £5750 and thats what I'm hoping to get with £5500 as a minimum.

vRS-Carl I've only got snaps on my phone of it at the moment to be honest but its In silver, down -40mm with the original springs and shocks still to hand and mapped too. I'm heading out sat morning to take photos of it for sale if you want me to mail you them at the time?

I'll probably pay for an account on here and get it up for sale too.

Cheers

Please don't sell it to a chav :)

Haha! To be fair I'd sell it to the first person who shows me 5.5k in my hand! Chav or no Chav!!!

Hey, Yeah inbox me the photos and if it's in as gooder nick as it sounds I may have you a buyer :)

Price sounds good, though are a few out there, so for a quick sale a little lower might be better. My car is a year older, but avg miles, full skoda history and immac and paid £4200 private 4 months ago - and that was about right given other cars out there. There are quite a few cars about at prices meaning they are hanging around a long time. I don't think at that age a 1 year younger car is worth £1300 more.

If you've got the original shocks etc and can easily swap them back I'd do that, plus remove the mapping, and keep quiet about it - you'll have a much bigger market if you sell a straight car rather than a modded (no matter how slightly) one - plus you can then sell the bits elsewhere to bring in some more cash

just my 2p worth....

OKA "the Diesel dawg"?

good luck with the sale! Glad to see the old fabia's are holding their price still.

Also in the same situation I barely use the fabia (7 miles to work) thinking of changing to a little petrol city car.........hope to get more than the offer of £1200! (p/x from dealership)

£1200 from dealership is an absolute joke, Get it up privately and good luck with the sale if you go ahead with It!

Removal of link to advert

OKA "the Diesel dawg"?

No, I say it because you see it happening to lots of cars, they get cheap enough for chavs to buy, who then go "ZOMG REMAP I CAN BEET A PORSHC BOXSER!!!111111tweleve", they crash, insurance companies put the risk of vRS models up. The rest of us get stung :(

no offence to KevH90 personally, but surely he is breaking forum rules by putting a link to the advert of his car without paid membership.

if i remember Republic did less than that and as we can see in the 2nd post he has had the mods edit his signiture..

not trying to cause trouble but the mods have had plenty of time to pick this one up

Whilst you're in the subject of prices, what would my 05 Fabia VRS with 71k, recent belt changes, factory xenons and heated seat options, be roughly worth?

It's in very good condition body wise but has a little furring appearing on the wheels and badges - if I decide to sell (Octavia VRS TDI is the likely replacement), I'd be get a years MOT on it and will be getting the front wishbone bushes replaced this week.

Completely standard car bar the headunit.

To give you an idea,

My vRS cost me £5400 a month ago. 68k, factory xenons, sat-nav, maxi-dot display, seat surgeons leather and plenty of tax service and MOT.
