12v permanent live

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I've had a few scrotes eyeing up my new RS so I've bought a GPS Car Tracker. I'm hoping to wire it all up at the weekend but just wondering what would be the best place to get a 12v permanent live from. I don't want to run it directly from the battery as it would be too obvious. Could I just take a feed off the radio?

I'd rig the car up to the house mains ;) , 240 volts that'll make em jump

Take a feed from the fuse box. There is a single live permanent feed IRC. Check the fuse box diagram, it'll be shown on there I'm sure.

234V here in my street. Taken with fully calibrated fluke scope meter. :DB)

PS It's hard to find a fuse in the fuse box that isn't permanent live as a lot of equipment is only inhibited from working without the ignition on by the can bus logic. I wouldn't recommend a piggyback fuse as it will be too easy to to disconnect.

Volts might sting but it's the amps that do the real damage!

Anyone got any pictures of the crimps/adaptors I should use to tap into the existing cables?

i may be talking cr@p here but from what i remember its not a good idea to cut in to canbus wiring as its very sensitive and can cause problems
