Fitted Jabbasport RARB today :-)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a quick post to follow up my previous thread on 'cooper s like handling' ...

I've now fitted the Jabbasport RARB and even though I haven't had the opportunity to put it to the test down some real twisties, my first impression is good :-)

The back end feels a lot more solid & there is less body roll which is what I wanted to achieve to start with.

My question though is will having this RARB on make the back end more likely to step out?

My mechanic mentioned the possibility this morning & I wanted your opinions cos im no Michael Schumacher when it comes to the corners and don't want to find myself in a ditch on a rainy day lol

If the back end does step out it will not be as progessive as before you had the rear anti roll bar fitted. Sure it will corner far better and flater than before, and its a mod I will be doing to my VRS.

The only way i can describe it is as follows

No RARB. Grip, grip, grip slide, slide, spin.

RARB fitted Grip, grip, grip, grip, grip, grip, small slide, spin

lol

Is it adjustable? If so put the drop links on the outer most holes for the least stiff setting if your worried.

You will have less understeer so the tendancy to over steer will be more prevalent but by no means dangerous.

Is this on a fabia 2 or 1 ??

Good eyes, he's got a mk1. Just found this post about the cooper s handling

Hi all,

As some will know, I have recently sold my beloved mini cooper s in favour of a 2005 fabia vrs.

I really love the car but I hate the way it rolls all over the place :-(

Is there a way to make it handle like my old cooper s & what mods specifically would it involve?

I've been thinking about coilovers if you think that's the way forward but I have no idea on what makes and models to go for that would make the ride firm and unrolly but not jarring like an evo lol

Also I'm looking to get it remapped in the next couple of weeks, what new clutch / dmf should I b looking to upgrade to if I don't want it to go bang?

Also, FINALLY!!! Would a remap up to say 175 bhp and 295lbs give it cooper s driving performance too??

Thanks in advance!!! :-)

Moving to fabia 1 forum in case people start thinking Jabba do a RARB for the fabia 2 (do they? I have no idea)

Yes it'll make it more likely for the back end to step out. Though it also adds "composure" to the rest of the dynamic envelope. Power off/power on transitions in corners and diagonal pitching are much improved.

Just take it slowly when it comes to finding the limits. And don't put crap tyres on the rear end.

Yeah will do thanks to all. It's got Pzero Neros all round, I've heard they're a good tyre :-)

Finally took the furby down the twisties today & I hav to say it's loads better! Does make the front end feel rather soggy tho, any ideas?

Well, an upper front strut will solve a little of the soggy turn in, however, if you do put it on you'll have less 'feel' on the front end especially on uneven surfaces.

I have one but removed due to the roads around my area aren't the best (its also nearing winter so i'd want as much front end feel as possible) :)

Console bushes, if they're standard, swap them for the Seat Cupra solid rubber ones. 2nd, check tyre pressures, try 36 front, 32/33 rear. 3rd, I've neer run a RARB on standard suspension though Id love to know how it feels with a Whiteline upgraded front ARB complimenting the Jabba rear arb (hint hint...).
