Oil light

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2.0l diesel which the oil light does not come on when you first turn the ignition and it does a self test. It has been back to the dealers twice and had a new dach twice but still not working.

Any ideas :wonder:

The only time this is likely to be a problem is when you come to sell the car. Give the dealer an ultimatum and a deadline, fix it or change the car.

Hi,

dealer must be fairly convinced it's the dash but after two units you have got to suspect something else. Problem being that could be hardware or software, for example sender unit, wiring system (e.g. loose connector) or engine management.

Might be worth contacting Skoda UK customer services as it's obvious your dealers floundering.

Hope you get it sorted,

One dash might be possible but I strongly doubt it could be faulty twice. Sounds like a drowning dealer to me.

More likely a faulty sensor.

I've only just spotted this post. Had a look at my warning lights, on ignition switch on. No oil light also. Had a look at the manual. On page 29, bottom right, it says: "4) The warning light (oil) on vehicles fitted with information display does NOT come on after switching the ignition on, but only if a fault exists or the engine oil level is too low".

Surely the dealer would know this and not change the dash. So maybe I've got it wrong.

Yeah the light wouldn't go out until the engine was started anyhow, oil pump is mechanical. But as our oil pressure switches don't read at idle anyway they don't come on unless there is a problem.

I think somebody should tell the dealer who changed the dash twice!

I have to agree though, the oil light does not come on in my Yeti either....

Glad I found this thread as no oil light warning on my yeti during a self test either, but on page 32-note3) the manual explains "The warning light(oil) on Vehicles fitted with information display does not come on after switching the ignition on, unless a fault exist or engine oil level is low"

Really Can't believe a dealer would change the dash to cure this, but it certainly looks like he has Twice!.

I think the dealer would be well p1$$ed off if he knew.

Might be best to keep him in the dark.

I'm surprised that Skoda UK didn't question the ordering of two dashes to try to rectify a fault that didn't exist :giggle:
