Changing bulbs

Featured Replies

How easy it it to change the bulbs on a FL RS? Anywhere near as bad as the skinned knuckles changing a Fab's ones? Can anyone recommend some good bulbs as well as the stock ones are woefull as i found driving to Belfast the other night!!!

cheers

Kit :)

Doddle, a single plastic bolt comes off the back of the lights and you pull a lever and take the lights out.

For bulbs, I think the osram silverstars are a good compromise on light output vs life expectancy.

There are two other options for upgrading the headlight bulbs

1. Fit an HID kit to the dipped beams. Many, including myself, have done this. A 4300K, 35W kit will give the purest white light, and put the maximum amount of light onto the road. But beware of the upcoming change in MOT legislation which may mean that the kit will have to removed for the MOT. My dipped beam has been TOTALLY transformed with this option.

2. For high beam, and an option you can also do for the dipped, is to fit a set of Halfolds Extreme Brilliance bulbs, which are filament bulbs, and won't cause any MOT issues. Once again, the difference I've noticed over standard bulbs has been tremendous. AT THE MOMENT, HALFORDS HAVE A TWO FOR ONE OFFER ON THESE BULBS, SO NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO BUY!

Hope this helps

I have Philips extreme 80% which have been on for 2 years so am changing to the new Ring xenon Ultima +120% bulbs and will post feedback later.

Interested to know how they compare with the Philips for colour and brightness.

Yep, the removal procedure for the lights is one of the best bits of design from Skoda - such a good idea to be able to remove the whole light assembly to carry out bulb maintenance emoticon-0148-yes.gif

You got these fitted yet, I'm considering a pair of these myself and want to know what they are like.

Thanks.
