Recently changed insurers - again - using compare sites. Went from LV, who were still quite good, to E-Sure, about £35 p.a. cheaper.

However, having third year service done tomorrow and find that whereas LV charged nothing for a day's transfer to dealer courtesy car, E-Sure works out £30 give or take.

So I might as well have stayed with LV. The dealer themselves only want £15 for insurance so I'll obviously go with them.

(Mind you, Clarion, in Worthing, charged nothing for courtesy car insurance, especially as the courtesy car was an ancient heap - Flavia I think it was called.)

Don't you mean Fabia? Flavia was a 1960's Lancia....

I'd pay more then £15 for a ride on Flavia.

ESure have never charged me for a transfer for a courtesy car?

Admittedly I haven't done it for over a year.

Can't remember! What was the Fabia-sized model before the Fabia? Might have been a Felicia.

Anyway, today's epilogue to the story is that West Sussex Motors loaned me a Suzuki dinky toy (well, it got me to Tesco's and back okay) and when I picked up my own car and went to pay their insurance charge they waved it away - a freebie again. I must say all my experience of WSM have been good, since they started being a Skoda dealer.

Ask for a free courtsey car, I always do. Tell them you've rung round and have got a better deal will they better it. Worth a try.

So far they are the worst (for admin.) I've ever used. When I signed up they naturally asked for proof of NCB which of course was on one page of my LV renewal letter.

So I posted them that page. A few days later I got a letter saying they did not have adequate proof, so I sent them the rest of the renewal letter (which was irrelevant anyway as that bit had nothing about NCB in it.)

A few days later they wrote and said they still did not have proof and my insurance would lapse in a few days. So I phoned their office and said I didn't have any more paperwork - they'd had it all, so they checked their system (such as it is) and said, "Oh yes, it's okay, the proof is all here." Berks.

So I wrote requesting written confirmation that they agreed I had proved many years NCB. After a couple of weeks I got a letter grudgingly admitting all was okay. Next year it will be back to compare sites again, and unless E-Sure are extremely good value it will be goodbye from me.

Heh, be interesting to see how you would of handled it with Aviva. It took me months (I mean months) to get them to pull their finger out.
