Improved performance for Fabia 1.2 60PS

Featured Replies

The 1.2-litre 60PS engine available for the Fabia S will change from a 6v to a 12v unit from week 45. We can now confirm the improvements this will bring to the car’s performance:

1.2 6v 60PS MPI

Compression ratio from 10.3:1 to 10.5:1

Urban (mpg) From 37.7 to 38.7

Extra urban (mpg) from 60.1 to 62.8

Combined (mpg)from 49.6 to 51.4

CO2 emissions from 132g/km to 128g/km

Fewer CO2 emissions mean customers will save £115 on the first 12 months’ road tax and pay less benefit-in–kind (BIK) tax.

Revised prices for the Fabia 1.2 12v 60PS:

Basic VAT RRP OTR

£7,666.67 £1,533.33 £9,200.00 £9,765.00

so will it still have 60ps, it like the current 12v will it deliver an extra 10bhp more?

Just wondering, does the S spec can have front winders or electric windows, other than PAS there the only creature comforts i would expect in a base spec supermini nowadays.

things like aircon, alloys, cd player, electric wings, esp, auto dimming rear view mirror etc etc are all luxuries.

i'm happy with a radio, some PAS and a heater. but i would rue getting a brand new car albeit a sub 10k one without front electric windows.

The vehicle will still retain its 60ps but the running performance is what has been the initial focus, both for running costs and meeting (as you probably already know) new emissions regulations in 2014

I believe the base spec S does come with MP3/CD front speakers, electric front windows and air con as standard?

I could be wrong though...

What I put above is copied from the SUK website as of today. A/c is £550 extra on the S.

Not sure I see the point of offering a "de-tuned" :giggle: version of the 1.2 HTP 70Bhp engine. Why not just delete the naff 1.2 60-horse version from the range and continue with the better 70hp unit?

Maybe something to do with that?

But the 1.2 70Bhp engine already has a lower C02 figure (128) than the 1.2 6v 60Bhp version so nope I don't think that is a reason to get one....

Just a marketing ploy so they can offer a lower entry price point.

Is the 60ps lower insurance?

Rover did something similar and offered two power outputs on their 1.4 82bhp and 103bhp. Only difference between the two was the lower powered version had a plastic insert in the throttle body. Remove the insert and fit a new throttle cable and hey presto another 21bhp.

Not sure if the 1.2 12V will have smaller throttle body or other mechanical mods, could be they build one engine and do the restriction in the ecu.

Cheers

I thought it was 60ps and 70ps and 59bhp and 69bhp respectively, not 70bhp?

It could be to tempt young drivers with lower insurance maybe although 10ps i wouldnt have thought would make alot of difference, skoda do some strange things somethimes, :wonder: Also we are bringing out a new skoda citigo the 1.0 60ps and 75ps 3 cylinder engine's in 2012 aiming towards young drivers, which i was going to post the new pictures released and the official stats on this forum but i didnt think it would be of any interest to anyone owning fabia II'S

I think both the citigo and A-Entry/MissionL will take Fabia customers.

Well i certianly wont be swapping my Fabia for one

Citigo wouldn't be on my shopping list but the MissionL might be, especially if they have improved high speed refinement over the Fabia.

Saying that the Fabia 3 can't be too far away, the current model is getting on a bit in model lifetime terms and as Skoda plan to announce a new model every 6 months I wouldn't be suprised if the new model is announced soon.

Cheers
