Fancy a half price track day with less risk than normal?

Featured Replies

ok this is probably a massive mistake but I'm considering essentially hiring out half of my Ibiza on a track day.

Next Thursday - 3rd November - a day at Castle Combe with Javelin track days.

I'd love to do the day but can't really afford the expenditure on my own so heres the deal:

the day costs £99

plus an extra driver @ £20

and a tank of fuel for the Ibiza is £50

Total cost £169

This gets split between me and someone else so the day essentially becomes £85 each

the driving time is then split 50/50 and we do as many laps or as much time as we/the car can handle.

The day would need to be done on a "you break it you buy it" basis.

I'll carry the risk of damaging my own car; and the other person carries the risk of havnig to pay to repair my car if it ends in the barriers or they lunch a gearbox/clutch etc.

However the car is mine, meaning the cost of the consumables (except fuel - so brakes and tyres) are mine to deal with

Obviously potential people would need to be vetted pretty carefully - so probaly those with Briskdoa history with me

Anybody fancy it?

Brave Cliff

I'd be on it like a car bonnet if I was closer/had some spare time off to take!

That's if you'd have me... :giggle:

Brave Cliff

I thought you might be up for it Garry.

It;s not far from you to Combe; I could even pick you up on route ;)

It is brave but like i said i won't just do it with any old numpty

speaking of which....

That's if you'd have me... :giggle:

:D

I was hoping to do a similar thing at Oulton park which is more your neck of the woods

Tempting.....

Although moving house has to take priorty Cliff :-(

How much is the excess if the other driver bends it?

I mean, how much do you value the car at...

Get in touch if you do mate, I'd be well up for it :D

Would you fit in an Ibiza? ;)

You got me very tempted Cliff. I have plenty of holiday from work to take and a thirst to get back on track with the mongrel having been sidelined in the short term. :D

As already mentioned. Assume worst case scenario and a total write-off, no other cars involved - what is the outlay needed? :)

lol it is only an 8v so with just 115bhp (11 years ago) he may have a fair effect on the power to weight ratio :D

Well the car cost me £1000 in March.

I can't see it having depreciated since then although i've serviced it and taxed it to balance any decrease out.

so that'd be the excess i guess.

The car was bought as a commuting tool, but to balance out why I didn't buy a 1.O Micra I had to promise to the retire of the Fabia from track work and use the Ibiza.

The Combe session back in the spring was awesome but i've not had the funds to do anything else since (partly as summer days are so expensive)

However now with a few Fabia bits having left my garage I've had funds to buy a second set of wheels and found out that when the tyres that came with the rims are dead my dad has a friend who races BMW's and can supply a steady stream of end of life R888's.

And with the weather worsening and the potential for wet days high prices have plummeted.

That said I's still prefer to split the costs with someone else.

It doesn't HAVE to be the one next week at Combe.

Javelin have loads of days through Nov & Dec which i'd love to attend and at present some are like £70 + extra driver etc.

Well, provisionally I am definitely interested. Will an advance weather forecast affect if you go or not, or would you book late? Taking time off at short notice is no issue with me as long as nothing is really urgent in work.

To be honest Jase I hadn't really though further than "oh that's cheap - I wonder if any one would be interested" :D

To be honest the wet session in the Fabia at the action day made me realise yes higher risk but lower grip increased concentration and the LOOS in my eyes increased fun (had i stacked it of course i'd have felt different) so waether isn't too much of an issue

Well, I shall assess how busy work is likely to be tomorrow, but I do like the idea of it. Will be odd turning up at a trackday in the mongrel and it now getting a go. :D

I did a similar thing in a mate's MX5 a couple of years ago, with him, and the whole day only cost me about £60. It was one of those airfield days near Combe.

I've had a Fabia and a Lupo, so yes :p

Cool I'll evaluate the work holiday schedule; then discuss with the keeper of the purse strings and we'll have a chat on Saturday

I may also be interested in this cliff, i will get back to you though.

Cheers

Cliff's little Ibiza might be a little slow for you. :giggle:

I think 2 tanks of fuel for the whole day.

It's no Supacopa that's for sure!

Should be a match for the racing mk2 Golfs though (the 8v's at least)

However thanks to all those who have shown an interest but given last nights events this could be off the cards for a little while

thread closed until arrangements can be made a little more certain
