looking into changing headlight bulbs

Featured Replies

hi all as the title saids thinking of changing headlight bulbs to something abit bighter but without going down the route of hid's. so have found a website that do some osram bulbs. but my big question is according to the site dipped beam is a h7 and main beam is h1 so does dipped and main need seperate bulbs? as i assumed due to my last car i belive dip and main worked on one set of bulbs.

thanks all

The MK1 Octavia uses a twin filament H4 bulb, unless you are sw a n ky enough to have factory fit HID's.

so when u say twin filament does that mean it has both dip and main? i am just trying to work out why the the site is saying h7 dip and h1 main and they sell them seperately making it sound like u need to buy both h7 and h1

Yeah, it's a single bulb that has both the dip and main in one.

I presume you have a MK1 octavia? The MK2 one is probably different.

X-Treme visions, The Osrams are pretty good but not that good!

Defo H4's!

hey have u got a set of xtreme visions ? if so what our they like ?? as i know a couple of years back i think philips came 2nd or 3rd in auto express as osram beat them by a margin plus i do know that philips our extremely good at there products where as osram i have not really heard of

The site you're looking at is quoting you bulbs for an Octy 2 for some reason.

Check out Powerbulbs to get a site that will actually sell you the parts you want, and might even run a BOGOF and/or free sidelight bulbs.

+1 for Powerbulbs, fast free shipping and easy search engine - select your make/model/year and it'll show you what's available

I just bought Osram Night Breaker PLUS H4 from http://www.powerbulbs.com and they are a reasonable improvement over stock. However I may try some Philips next time. :)
