Beware if you have VRS on order - UPDATE

Featured Replies

Well.......for those of you who read and replied to my last post about my huge delay for my Candy white VRS - Thanks guys!

Here is what has happened:

I was going to cancel as i was not accepting a week 8 build date when it was meant to be week 47 (ordered week 17 - April 27th 2011)

I have been offered my deposit back, but was told of some cars in the system, as some of you have mentioned.

The only one that was my spec was a Rallye green VRS which actually has 5 more options than mine and has eveything on it that i had specified fortunately.

They wanted another £900 off me for it, NO DISCOUNT!!

I almost considered this until i was told.......ohh....NO VAT FREE DEAL!!......what?? so you want me to pay £4k more for a car for basically the same as i ordered, don't think so!

I had a right go at Vindis Cambridge and told them i was calling Skoda UK.

Then had a go at Ben from Skoda UK who fired off an e-mail to head office.

Result:

Getting Green VRS VAT free, with free Supaguard protection and free servicing for 3 years. I still have to pay an extra £600 for the car which i am not delighted about, but it does have heated seats, cruise, parking sensors, metallic paint and an extra headrest over and above the spec i ordered.

I think i'm happy.....the car is built and is waiting already at Emden for shipping.....so in 3 weeks i hopefully will be joining you all in VRS ownership!!

Doesn't feel like my car yet, but i know i will get excited soon.

Lesson: Don't let the dealerships fight for you, if you feel hard done by call Skoda yourself.

And a message to Ben at Skoda UK........Your a star!!....had a right go at the guy, had him on hold for 15 mins at one point while i spoke to Vindis, and he stayed there, Can't fault him.

Thanks for all the advice and messages of support, that's what these forums are all about!!

Cheers.

Kev.

I was just about to let you know our local dealer has an 11 plate in white with black roof and wheels with just over 4k miles on it - wouldn't be the same as a brand spanker though, and there was little or no extra spec on it

Pictures as and when available will always be welcome

Glad it all got sorted. I'm sure you'll love the car.

Yep dealer tried that on us too. When we ordered it was 20% off, when they offered us an alternative it was 15% off so they said we needed to pay 5% extra. Not a bloody chance were we paying extra due to their inability to supply what we ordered.

Advice for others.

1. Don't believe all the dealer says.

2. Contact Skoda UK.

3. Contact 3rd party (Motoring Press / Legal Body) to contact Skoda UK.

If they can't supply your car whithin the stated reasonable timeframe then you should at least get a similar car with sweetners thrown in and free servicing. That seems to be what Skoda UK will sort for you if pushed hard enough.

Well done, sounds a great car and those extras will just make it that bit better. You should keep the build slot for the other one and sell it on to someone nearer the time, Maybe make back your £600!

How can a dealer off the same car at a different price when a major part of the discount comes from Skoda UK. If Skoda uk say to a dealer no we wont do that. Then when the customer complains they say they will how is that the dealers fault?

Don't be fooled by dealer half truths, they have regular meeetings with Skoda UK. They know how far Skoda UK will go and how far they themselves can go. They will just try and maximise the profit.

For a loyal customer the dealer should be bending over backwards and hounding Skoda for a resoltion, not offering lower spec cars at a higher price or threatening to retain your deposit.

It's suprising just how far they can go once the motoring press are involved. If they had done that from the start we would still be loyal customers and they would still have 3 cars being serviced through their dealership.

Perhaps if Skoda had a proper ordering system with firm build times dealers wouldn't be put in this situation

I agree, and it's such a shame as it taints the buying experience. No-one wants a battle when buying a car - should be a pleasure!
