car went into limp mode?

Featured Replies

So i decided to do a max speed run on a very long open dual carriage way :) 140mph which i thought was pretty good, Revo map pulls right the way through the rev range

i was doing top speed for around 30seconds then the power just died and the car struggled. so i pulled over, let it tick over for a few minutes turn it off, waited another few minutes then started it up, no whines from the turbo or anything and now seems to drive fine.

any ideas?

there were no warning lights showing

I think it could be tied with the turbo, somehow, and for engine protection, management system put car in limp-mode?

Got to ask why, thats more than twice the legal limit on a public road speeds like that better kept to the track IMHO.?

yeah, it is very stupid i must agree, i was angered by some *&*"££%&^"" (not very nice boy) cutting me up well and truly on a roundabout, so over took him and carried on going. I paid the price though, and wont be doing it again, i was impress how stable my car felt at that speed though.

as for the limp mode, someone mentioned that it could be to do with overheating?

Most likely to be related to intake temps, as you'll be running the stock SMIC I presume. The turbo needs an awful lot air at that speed, to keep it providing it's max amount of boost, to keep you going at that sort of speed.

While you weren't going that speed for very long, much about 100 you're pushing the std setup quite a lot, even more so because you're likely at wide-open throttle (I'm guessing) in order to make maximum progress. So the SMIC will be struggling to keep intake temps down.

That aside it's not at all clever on a public highway IMO, but what you do is upto you....
