Forge intercooler

Forge were advertising for a Fabia 1.4 TSI on Facebook for development. Not dead in the water but no idea what's going on.

Been looking at the HG M one but not sure what shipping costs would be or if it comes with a fitting manual. :|

Initially that HG one looks really good when you look at the frontal area, BUT its very thin, and the large majority of the intercooler is behind the bumper so not really benefiting from the flow of air through the cooling thins of the intercooler. Its why the std cooler has a small frontal area but a very deep design because there is more contact with the flow of air.

The std cooler is

80mm Tube Width

96mm Stack Height

617mm Tube Length

= 4.73 litres

HG Cooler

40mm Tube width

310mm Stack height

450mm tube length

= 5.58 litres. So around a 16% increase.

Thats not a very large increase, and as said before most of it is hidden behind the bumper because they have gonefor height rather than depth

For comparison

Pace cooler

90mm tube width

145mm stack height

550mm tube length

= 7.17 litres = 35% increase

Thanks for the info Sy and It's a good increase. Just a shame the Pace one is so expensive. Although they quoted me Intercooler + Radiator. Should ask for Intercooler by itself. Still be expensive I think though.

You can't, they are interconnected and come as a pair

out of all the options the pace one looks the best. It's a lot of cash but you do get a new radiator too.

I'm still confused about why all people want the radiator... I haven't had any heat-problems with the WATER.

Isn't it because the Pace Products Intercooler has been worked to get maximum size, but it will only fit if you have a new, adjusted radiator as the original will prevent it from fitting?

Ive monitored my water temps with the laptop on track and they get way hotter than what the analogue dial shows. That doesnt even move off 90o even with the actual water temps being in excess of 120o

Mine no longer get anywhere near that temperature. And......the analogue water temp dial still shows 90o, so thats about as much use as a c*** flavoured lolly pop

Also have you seen the bodies and tips of the spark plugs when they are removed. Mine had heat marks all over them, pretty much every tuner ive spoken to has said that its heat that is destroying their plugs which causes the misfires. Every single one of them all believed the car would be MUCH better off with a better radiator to reduce the heat of the block.

Another of the issues which REVO highlighted and VAG have since attempted to rectify was the fact that when the engines get hot, they massively overfuel to cool the temps down. This is the 'borewash' issue that you may have read about. REVO say this is mainly down to the fact that VAG had underestimated the amount of heat this engine produces.

This is why i approached people to develop a radiator in the first place as i had seen first hand the 'actual
