MDI Problem

Featured Replies

When I try to use my Ipod nano through the MDI socket most of the tracks play distorted but some don't, If i play it through the AUX socket everything plays perfect. So could somebody please tell me whats wrong or very likely what i'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Stereo objecting to your taste in music :p

Are you using the iPod MDI cable? Have you had the head unit out at all? I had a glitch on mine after retro fitting a columbus to my Superb and the plug for the MDI was loose on the quadlock and had slipped out of the quadlock connector. 5 minutes of fiddling to clip it back in and all was well

I do believe the i-pod nano is not compatable with the Mdi unit

The i pod is but not the i-pod Nano.

Disclaimer:- I think

Oh bugger  . Well that would explain it, nice to know it probably aint me :) .

Thanks for info.

Well both my iPhone and the wife's iPhone do exactly the same. Might whip the head unit out on the weekend and have a look

i have the same problem with my iphone, i ended up just using the usb midi and a 16 gig memory stick and it works great, it also easier to navigate the music on the stick .

I have a customer sending an mdi cable back to me becuase the sound is distorted playing off his iphone on a passat,i will test it on my own car when i get it back and if it turns out it was a faulty cable i will let you know. If you do get to the bottom of it in the meantime please let us know.

Are they running ios5?

He said his 3gs was on the latest but he said he had tried an ipod and that was same, dont know which one though. Incidently i had the mdi dock replaced on myGolf last week as it was doing odd things and im sure it was draining battery as it was struggling to start.

I had this problem when connecting iPhone and also 3rd gen iPod. All the tracks sounded bloody awful!

I found that by changing the 'Aux' level setting from Aux 3 down to Aux 1 (it is on one of the setup menus - I think it appears if you hold down the righthand radio knob) that the problem is resolved, even though you're connecting via MDI rather than 'aux'!

Let me know if you need more info.

Wow, you had the problem 3 times :)

Good solution though, I used this trick with a USB stick and the MDI>USB cable

Yeah. Sorry posted from iPhone & somehow managed to post 3x.

Thanks very much  , I will give it a go.

As well as the AUX level, if you're using an iPhone, enable airplane mode. My iPhone throws out massive interference through MDI but airplane mode takes that away... and ultimately I switched to 500GB USB HD as well which solves the problem completely

Did it work?

ipod nano not an iphone but thanks for the other info

I tried it in my Golf and on the lowest setting the sound is good but if you change it to the highest setting the sound is awful, definatly a good chance its that.

Same with mine, MDI needs to be aux level 1.

Although, the 3.5mm aux in needs to be aux 3.
