AC Delco Supreme Plus 5W40

Featured Replies

Ordered some AC Delco Supreme Plus 5W40 synthetic oil after it was advertised as meeting the requirements of VW 505 01. Confirmed this by cross referencing this with the AC Delco website with the engine code but it turned up today and it only meets the requirements of VW 502 00 and VW 505 00 on the can.

I am thinking about returning it but wondered if anyone else has seen this before.

Personally I'd query it, they may have simply sent you the wrong product since "Supreme Plus" will be a range of oils and there'll be a load of different ones with different composition for various different standards. For the cost and hassle of any possible issues, I wouldn't risk putting the wrong oil into a PD engine...I'd rather return it and buy the right stuff even if it leaves me a few quid out of pocket than increase the risk of having to replace camshafts down the line.

You are wise to query your correct grade of oil.

Just use the the correct grade, when it's clearly printed on can, nothing else.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thanks Guy,

Will have to send it back, I understand the extra pressure the injector cam lubes are under.
