Intercooler pipes.

Coming from Impreza circles, I'm struck by the apparently "small" intercooler pipes we seem to have on our cars. Granted the base engine is only rated to 130 or 150 BHP and prefers mid-range monstering to edge of the rev range thrashing but still....

Average petrol turbo at WOT and peak power revs runs AFR around 11-12. ISTR that we struggle to run AFR less than 18 or so, especially at higher revs (less injection interval, less combustion time).

Surely intercoolers and intercooler pipework for higher output TDIs should be approaching 70-75mm diameter, rather than at best, the low 60s?

Also worth applying the same argument at inlet piping, air filter and MAF tube I suppose....

FYI: My Fabia is a daily driver, so power mods currently limited to a mild remap.
