Just changed my order

Featured Replies

After reading some of the horror stories on here, and with my dealer quoting me 4 - 5 months delivery on a red vRS estate, I contacted my dealer yesterday to see what, if anything, was on the system.

There were 4 or 5 cars, all race blue or black, and all could be in my driveway by the end of the month. Seeing as Im probably the most impatient person in the world I decided to cancel my order and take one of the cars that were already built.

Ive opted now for a black hatch with black alloys. I miss out on the parking sensors, climatronic, heated seat and cruise that were on the estate that was ordered, but the only 2 things that were a must for me were the black alloys and cruise. With this in mind I have arranged for my dealer to fit cruise control to it before I pick it up, I know its dearer this way but it saves me waiting till possibly March, or even longer.

The wife wasn't too happy either about loosing the larger boot, something to do with fitting buggys or prams, but I switched off at that point in the quest to find a black hatch with the black pack and black alloys fitted on this site. Still not found one yet though.

So, roll on the end of November B)

That should look bad-ass! I was so tempted by an all black Monte

The boot ain't a bad size on the hatch. Managed to fit a full compliment of 15" boxed steel wheels and still have space for the carrier bag partition fitted

Thats great news, at least you will see it well before christmas! I do not think I could order a car and wait up to 6 months for it!

:wonder:

I hope you've tested those buggies (and all the other stuff that kids have to have when travelling) in the boot of the hatch, its about a third smaller!

Interesting, my dealer told me retrofit cruise control wasn't available on cars >2010 cars?? Maybe they were just fobbing me off as i was trying for a freebee..

I do believe its a dash out,ECU modding job of about 3.5hrs, IF it can be done. PM user Tech1e

+1

The boot in the hatch is considerably smaller - I had to get the estate for this reason...

The buggies wont be getting anywhere near it, as long as the child seats fit in it thats all that matters, the kids can crawl

I was told by my dealer its £335 to fit the cruise, looks about right then labour wise bearing in mind the price of the part.

I phoned a couple of after-market places but I can't find anywhere with a kit for a TSi yet.

Just contacted Drew at Ingram Skoda Ayr who double checked with his people.

Cruise can be retrofitted on 2011 models onwards, its a new piece of kit that only came out this year.

according to the spec brochure, cruise is only £175 when added as an option, so there charging quite a lot to me, considering the wait and all that :o

having said that, its a must have in my book

I know, it was only £175 when I added it to the estate I originally ordered, but I s'pose the extra cost is the labour charge to retor fit it. The only reason I decided to go for the black one was on the basis that cruise could be retro fitted. There was another black hatch with cruise but it never had the black alloys I was after.

A member on here can fit it for £200 or less iirc - he is a Skoda Technician, might be Tech1e or someone... can't remember now.

I opted for the Estate, no kids yet but have a Labrador x Weimaraner so made sense to get a bigger car with the 20% off rather than wait until I need one and then not be able to afford one!
