Diverter Valve Cost?

Featured Replies

How much should I be looking at paying for a new diverter valve? I heard it's only a 10 min job but a local indy quoted me about £130 for the work.

my new diverter valve from Skoda cost me about £50 from what I remember. It took me more time getting the engine cover off than changing the part. I wouldnt pay £130 for the work, personally. If you have a bit of common sense it's straight forward enough to do. I'm sure there's a guide somewhere about it on here.

I had mine replaced with the uprated S3 divertor valve, paid about £50 all in fitted at JabbaSport. No way would I pay anywhere near £130, especially for the regular (albeit redesigned) VRS part!!

I paid £40 for the part IIRC..

Try JKM, they're not far from you.

Good point here. Just how do you get the engine cover off on a TSFI?

I been v/ry careful and the link still don't work?

Yes think of the original url and then replace the s****monkey bit with s"self pleasuring"monkey.com/vw/jetta/2006/remove_engine_cover/

i.e.

w.s w a n k monkey.com/vw/jetta/2006/remove_engine_cover/ - without the spaces :)

And the "be very careful" refers to when you remove the engine cover, as it can crack easily.

£47 done it my self took 20 mins my old one wasnt split but the shaft of the plunger did have a load of play on it so thought it was worth while.

Mine was around the same price as that, tried to do it myself but I couldn't get the car high enough to get my fat body under it! :giggle:

My mechanic ended up doing it with some other bits and didn't charge me in the end, if you had a K04 DV relocation kit it would take about 2 minutes.

it's not the top engine cover you need to take off btw! It's the engine undertray I meant.

Basically, you jack the car up and put it on axle stands. Undo the torx screws along each side easy enough. The last 3 that run across the back of the cover are slightly bigger but I managed to pretty much round off the torx screws, so be careful. After that, pop off the undertray and it should be easy enough to locate the DV. It's towards the rear driver side of the engine.

Unplug the sensor to the DV, undo 3 screws and replace with new DV, job done. It's a bit fiddly but easy as pie.
