all my dash and switch lights dont work

Featured Replies

I'm not sure what's happened but my dash lights and the lights on the radio, climate, electric window switches all don't light up :/

I've checked all the fuses but I cant find any that are blown!

Everything works but the interior illumination doesn't.

The curtasy lights and the glove box lights work. And so do the Headlamps....

Can someone help with any suggestions please :-)

MOD EDIT:  CHECK YOUR REAR NUMBERPLATE LIGHTING FUSE.

Ok. So 2 main fuses are 1, 2, and 16. If the other lights work however, 2 should be fine as most tie into it and it's a 110A fuse lol. 1 and 16 need checking - both 5A fuses,

If everything else is working however... Then i'd say that chances are it's the variable resistor on the dimmer control for the dash lights, loose connections or possibly a fault on the dimmer, sometimes if the lighting switch has been removed, when its plugged back in some of the connectors can move in the connector block which gives dodgy connections.

I'd start there, have the dimmer out, if you've got a multimeter you can measure the dimmer operation, make sure there are no loose connections, and report back if it helps.

Yeah, I don't think the MK2 has the dash illumination dimmer?

I'll have a gander tomorrow, I do have an AA warranty I can claim off as well, but if it's just a fuse - and I've checked all of them and non of them look blown or faulty...GRR!

It's dark now, so I'll check in the morning, I checked on the dash on the maxi dot system report, and it said everythings OK....but its not!! :S

Really? Where?

Mk1 yes Mk2 No!!

Mine doesn't have a dimmer either, wasn't sure why though because the mk1 used to!

tried taking back to dealer? usually get 3 or 6 month warranty on used cars at main dealers

  • 7 months later...

Did you find the fault here? Mines doing it

It's a blown fuse mate.

Silly Leon :)

Always change a fuse rather than looking at it :D

Which fuse? I've tried changing most of them but still doesn't work

Anyone find out which fuse had gone?

Such an old thread, I doubt anyone remembers...

BUT, there can sometimes be an issue if you clean/dust the dash pod with a cloth and then the electrics seem to go!  It CAN be an electrical static/short issue and to reinstate the functions, disconnect the cars battery of ra short while and then start again.

I hope that helps.
