fabia sdi

Featured Replies

hi there foks help required please, I have a skoda fabia dsi thats doing some strainge things first off it running like a bag of s@:t, i think i know the cause of this AHHHHH TWO MASS FLYWHEELS but i cant get a battery warning light, when i switch the ignition on any help???

I have wipped off the alternater and took it down to the local auto electrical place and they said that it was charging and working fine so the problem must be the car some where a long the lines,

if anyone else has come across the same thing could you enlighten me

A dual mass flywheel won't cause rough running.

Try disconnecting the Mass AirFlow Sensor, and if the engine runs decently normally with it disconnected, get a new genuine one, not a cheap Fleabay special.

As for the alternator, it's possible that the charge warning light has failed. Also, did your auto electrician test the sprague clutch in the alternator drive pulley? That can fail, giving the same symptoms as a duff alternator.

The SDI doesn't have a DMF, it uses a solid flywheel.

not sure if SDi has same issues as TDi

have a look at it, might be a help.

if you first start vehicle up, put heater fan on full and then get engine over 2000 rpm if you hear the blower motor speed up slightly then load signal wire could well be your problem.

Hi

There is a wire that goes from the alternator , to the dash panel

Mine broke too

It is a think brown wire that is near the gearbox , it goes brittle and then breaks

Mine had the same issue , even bought a new alternator , but it was the wire

I got the info off our clever guru on here , then my Mark fixed it for me :D

As for the poor running , well I would get that wire sorted before I woud look further as I am sure with the alternator not charging the battery , it would not help

Also , I dont think they are DMF`s id the SDi

Yup, Sarah is right of course.

In front of the gearbox there is a black two pin plug. The wires will be corroded or broken. Easiest repair is to cut the plug out and solder the wires direct and insulate.
