Whiteline ARB...

Featured Replies

I removed my Whiteline ARB today as I sold it and I'm fitting a Jabba in a bit after it's back from the powder coaters but I honestly forgot I had removed it. The car handles exactly how it did before... I literally couldn't tell it wasn't there.

Everyone says a RARB is the best thing to do when you get a vRS but I couldn't tell any difference what-so-ever so if I don't feel a difference when fitting the Jabba it's coming back off and going up for sale.

Really disappointed TBH.

I have a Jabba RARB for sale, the standard setup seems fine for my pottering about.

Yours is lowered on coilovers though so it won't be as noticable as the car will be a lot stiffer than standard. On standard suspension it makes a massive difference.

Tbh I noticed more difference fitting 20mm spacers on the rear (many people say you cant feel a handling difference - i sure did compared to standard) than I did fitting my rarb yesterday! I'm only on medium at the moment though so going to set it to stiffest.

The only difference I noticed when I removed it was the less steering response and the increase in steering weight, which i prefer. Grip wise I noticed no difference. I think it's down to how you drive whether you like it or not. For me I'll live without it.

Not been on track for a while so can't comment on track performance.

Lots of people have mentioned it's one of the top things to do along with a remap, still haven't fitted mine yet lol.

Lee rich how much do u want for the rarb?

"Quaife ATB LSD, KW Variant 3 Coilovers"

^ That'll be your problem then. ISTR Oilburninut(?!) said the same thing. Once the suspension is low and tight, there's less lean for the ARB to work against and the springs do more of a job... Also ISTR he found the Jabba bar did something to improve his lap times.

More evidence to add to the pile about ARBs/RARBs though. :)

K getting the jabba one powder coated and will see I guess, otherwise I'll live without it and save some weight

Do you run a stiffer FARB?

I've been thinking about this for a little while now. Surely a stiffer RARB and a standard FARB makes the car more unstable at the limits...?

Whereas a softer RARB and stiffer FARB makes the car more stable but gives understeer.

And obviously stiffer comparitively all-around makes the car just crisper and more responsive, but with the same balance of under/oversteer.

Also note that the effect of ARB's is much reduced at lower ride heights with less tendancy to roll as the centre of gravity is lower. In fact, softer ARB's can be used at lower ride heights.

It's like people on coilies that cut their bump stops - bump stops are progressive firmness, so cutting a bit just means that even though you don't hit the bump stops most of the time, when you do on a corner with a cut bump-stop... It'll be hard and end up giving snap oversteer and you'll probably end up in a ditch.

...

He lists "Whiteline ARBs" (which I missed...) so probably...

Thinking of putting mine on the SDI.

It's hard to notice it with the uprated suspension now.

Think it would still make a big difference on the other car.

Seems fairly pointless on the vRS now.

I'll have a trial run without it and see what I think...

Get it on the third hole all other settings are for girls!

I think you're bang on there.

ARB's make a much larger difference on stock height.

At lower heights with already uprated springs/dampers... There's less movement in the springs so there's going to already be less roll. Spacers also make a difference because it increases the leverage at each spring.
