yeti winter tyres

Featured Replies

I recently bought some brand new dunlop sport 01 4d winter tyres 195/65 r15 for golf tdi as thought would be ahead of the game this year for snow and was actually looking forward to trying out due to excellent reviews but since and unexpectedly traded up for yeti. Is there any possibility of getting some 15 or 16" steels to fit my yeti and still use these tyres? I currently have the 17in 225/50 r17 dunlop sport 01 wheels on yeti and not sure if winter tyre side walls would be strong enough. Any views if able to use or need sell on?

If getting new winter tyres any suggestions on where to get reasonable tyres (eg eiretyres / mytyres etc)and place to get cheap steels to suit. Happy to go down to 15" or 16in rims in effort to keep costs down if suitable for car. Tyres would need to have reasonable wear etc due to mileage requirement so maybe trade off on price and quality.

You cannot go down to 15" wheels on the Yeti, as that is not a standard fitment. The smallest allowed will be 16".

One reason for this is that the brake calipers won't fit inside a 15" wheel. Furthermore to get the wheel's radius to be as close as possible to the standard 17" rubber you will need very, very high profile tyres around those 15" wheels. That will adversely affect handling as you can imagine - like having marshmallows for tyres. So eBay those and get some 16" versions.
