baffled by foglights

Featured Replies

I suppose I could trawl the forum for an answer but just having been out to park up Yorkie so wonderwoman can get out to work tomorrow (might go fishing later).

Realised that the nearside foglight was on as well as the low beams then checked and switched on fogs and both came on then after more fiddling around got drivers side on on its own.

I have got "we`re coming home, we`re coming home Yorkies coming home ticked at 10secs on the system and likewise with

I`m leaving home, I`m leaving home I`ve had enough I`m going fishing (in the dark).

Baffled, far too complicated for a simple Yorkshire lad.

Did notice that when I got in there was a lot of whirring noises and both the headlights and foglights seemed to be searching for enemy aircraft.

PS I do like driving him even if its not cold enough for his tyres.#

Cornering "fog" lights............

cough, cough.

And when you put it in reverse they should both come on.

:giggle:B):giggle:

Yes as Graham states corner fogs; activate as follows (lights on obviously);

Only work between 0 & 40kph

Indicate or turn steering right, right fog lights up

Indicate or turn steering left, left fog lights up

Select reverse both fogs light up.

oh separate point park up, turn of ignition and indicate left or right will activate parking lights.

TP

The searching for enemy aircraft is the test routine for the directional and self leveling xenons

Ah, a Volvo driver...can't be paying much attention as he drives along :giggle: , otherwise he would already have noticed that lots of VAG cars have cornering fogs which behave like this!

Might be a silly question,

Why do both fogs come on in reverse?

so it lights up where you've been?

So that you can see what the front is swinging into as you turn.

They don't have to both come on in reverse though ... this can be disabled.

Really. How?

It can definitely be done with VCDS, but I am sure I have seen the option in the MFD?

Cornering fogs can be disabled using VCDS, I looked into getting mine disabled when I got my Yeti after reading a few reports on here that they confused other drivers, and were dangerous. Now I'm glad I kept this option as the cornering fogs are brilliant, incuding them both coming on when reversing, can't see why anyone would want to dissable them.

So that you can see what the front is swinging into as you turn.

But i thought they only worked with the headlights on? so that would show you where you were swinging!!

Because they give a pool of light low down, whereas the headlights "focus" further away.

The adaptive headlights turn before the car swings, the fogs add to the pool of light and are brilliant in dark lanes or even Croydon in places at night emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

If the headlamps turn when reversing, surely they turn... Oh! Never mind.

All this light up front and most reversing lights are as bright as a farthing candle.Mind you with rear sensors it might stop you running over next doors cat! :)

I haven't got swivelly headlights!

Farthing Candle! Flipping heck, I know the joke of Yorkshiremen being tight but that's taking it to a whole new level :giggle:

(This has no doubt been done and said before)Another good use for the fog lights is Via VCDS(VAgcom),change the coming home lights from the zenons to the fog lights saves replacing dear zenon bulbs in the future

A long time ago, I had a VW Polo, and it had the same system. If you signalled to turn into a parking place; turned the engine off with out cancelling the indicator; that side, side lights came on as parking lights. If you locked the car and walked away they stayed on - day or night! When I went to work, I was parked for up to two weeks! A flat battery when I returned!! Does the SM do the same?

All Skodas do not just sms

Probably all VAG group car do....

I have a Moskvitch. If you leave the LHS indicator on, the RHS parking lights stay on and vice versa.
