How many miles to a full tank do you get?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I was wondering on a stock VRs MK1 1.8t how many miles to a full tank of petrol do you get if driving sensibly? (shifting at 3k etc etc)?

Thanks

Tom

I live in Cambridge so its all stop start, mainly around town.

I used to get 280 out of a tank but since I had the coilpacks replaced under the recall in June, I now regularly see 340.

380-400 - driving 13 miles each way to work from Chorley to Clifton, so through traffic in Preston, but with some 50mph sections.

420-440 - mostly motorway miles

Imo do what i done, but a 1.9 tdi and transfer all your bits and bobs, i can get 700mile to a tank if i drive reasonable, just a thought for you

Around 320ish. But i often have to sit in some rather crap traffic in Sheffield centre for ages.

And get half the power? :giggle:

700? I can only manage 560 driving like the pope and getting 60mpg (according to the trip computer)

Ah, but in his 'do what I done' bit he forgot to mention he extended the fuel tank, Max Max 2 style...

Ha ha, I think I'll give that a try!

lol, nah sitting at 50 mph that what i can push out, in town driving i get roughly 480

between 290 and 320 a tank. Daily drive is quite short at 8 miles each way and quite a bit of stop starting. Since being mapped i seem to get slightly better miles per tank.

Get around the same, variety of short journeys. Though on a recent long trip I did get 42.9mpg. :D

I get about 300 miles to a tank town driving, on a decent motorway run i can see 360 miles, but i didn't buy a vRS to drive it steady

+1, didn't buy a VRS expecting 500 miles to a tank, seems to be slightly better since my map though, think i get about 300 miles per tank

averaging 300 miles in town, got up to 550 out of town (very decent driving).

quick question: how do "buying a vRS" and "mpg is important to me" match up ?

Granted you dont buy a vRS for economy but it is also a factor in buying and running a car when it costs 70 odd quid to fill up. :) (depending on what petrol you buy) Its also quite nice to know that if you take it easy and drive well you can achieve reasonable MPG.

To be honest, my vRS gives similar performance to my old Golf VR6 (not quite matched in low end grunt, but broadly similar), and over the same routes the Golf would empty its tank in 260 miles!

380-400ish miles - mainly A-Road or Motorway stuff on a daily basis for me though. Cant grumble as its broadly the same as my old 1.6 Petrol Focus and a lot more fun.

280 - 300 driving like I stole it, and can hit 400 on a sensible tank.

Short journeys usually consisting of no more than 6 miles and gets me 300 miles. Chuck in a motorway run and you can get 100 miles on a quarter of a tank :)

Like most though, I didnt buy it for economy otherwise would've kept the Fabia vRS ;) it just helps I live not far from work. Can cycle on decent days :D

i live in the far north of scotland and often have a very early start for work, if there is nothing on the road and i stick to around 60mph i have seen 460 miles to the tank and when i fill up i usually still have 4 litres of fuel in the tank, so theoretically i reckon i could do 500 miles per tank if i use no aircon and drive like a granny and run her until the tank is almost dry. not bad considering that the car allegedly is running 227 bhp (the last owner modded her and i have never put her on the rollers so i do not know what she runs now)

Currently it looks to be heading well above 550 miles for this tank... providing I can keep the early morning cold starts nice and gentle..!

Getting around 360miles out of a tank with mixed driving including short town trips and quite a lot of fun driving around the moors.

Filled up with diesel after work on Friday afternoon. On Sunday evening, after 722 miles, the fuel light came on. So I stuck in another £20 to tide me over.

Indicated 68.3mpg
