DRL sidelights

Featured Replies

I have had my DRLs activated by my dealer about a year ago ( for free!!)

Can the sidelights be used instead of the lower DRLs??

If so , would my dealer be able to change the coding ?

Or, is there any friendly/free persons with VCDS in the surrey/hants area?

With the FL it's the DRL bulb's in fog light housing or fog lights as DRL or dipped beam.

Sidelights was an option for the pre FL.

Cheers

BIG Nick :)

Why would you want to swap from a 21W bulb designed specifically to be run as a DRL to a far less effective 5W sidelight bulb?

Just deactivate the DRL function (using the indicator stalk) and turn sidelights on manually.

Well I and other drivers find them a bit too bright so I was considering using the sidelights with led bulbs. I can't find an led bulb that will replace the drl without errors showing, unless anyone knows otherwise.......

It is possible (using VCDS) to reduce the intensity of the DRL's.

I wouldn't worry though, I've passed many FL Octavia's and the DRL's are lot less intense that some of the LED types fitted to top end Audi's and BMW's, infact those on the Octavia, Fabia, Superb and Yeti I think are just right.
