PD Injector Failure - No Recall/Recall

Featured Replies

Hi all

Rang Skoda HQ and they confirmed that my car is one that is likely affected the injector issues?

Car is booked in to be checked over

Could i ask what I should be asking the dealer, do they just plug it in and look for a fault code (which they are unlikely to find) or should they be looking for something else

Just want some pre-knowledge before I go in?

Thanks

There is a substantial thread on this here:

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/197422-vag-170-ps-diesel-injector-failures-vosa-action/

There's a lot here, so you might want to go to the end of the thread and just read through the last couple of pages.

All they need to do is lift the plastic engine cover and check the part numbers on the injectors. I'm told that it is a visual inspection only.

My dealer tried to charge me £45 just to do the inspection. Once VOSA and Skoda UK were involved they soon changed their minds about charging me.

As above read the thread linked in the previous post. You shouldn't have any problems, Skoda have replaced thousands of these injectors now.

The injectors are inside the engine so it's a little more than just lift the cover.

Check the pics in the above thread, engine cover off, cam cover off and injectors are in the head.

Are they replacing these ever on 07 cars because in Ireland people are replacing them costing huge money?

Check the main thread but if the injectors are the right part number then they could be changed.

Injectors are not being replaced for free in Ireland. If its a uk import you could try and arrange something

may i ask what year your car is ??? dont know what to do about mine, i have a 57 plate vrs with the BMN engine, its done 82k, ive only had it 18 months and done 24k in that time, its out of warranty, its got partial skoda history and i didnt buy it from a skoda garage.....is it worth a phone call to skoda or will they try to fob me off ??

Read the 'injectors' thread linked in post #2, all of your questions have been asked and answered already.

It doesn't matter where you bought the car or where you get it serviced or if you even service it at all or if it has warranty or if it's been to the moon and back, as long as you have the affected injectors they will be replaced for free.

Mine is a 57 plate and were replaced.

Ring Skoda!

Call Dan Latta 0n 08457 745 745, he will sort it out for you. He did for me. I have no service history, bought it in july with 54,000 on. Get it booked in with Dan at a Skoda dealer of your choice.

Do you not have an organisation like VOSA in Ireland to push this for you on the safety angle ?

I was in a VW dealer in Ireland this week getting some alignment work done on my car. I was asked by the service manager if I had come across any injector problems with my car. I said no and he said he just asked as they were being replaced under warranty if I had a problem. I have a 2005 2 litre PD140 Octavia which I dont think is prone to the injector problem a lot of the 170's are having so I was surprised he said that. But in any case it might be worth ringing your local dealers again to see if they are starting to change their stance on this whole issue in Ireland.
