Featured Replies

hi guy need some advice and info ive just brought a set of fabia vrs alloys and am in the process of getting them refurbed but the dilema is they didnt come with centre caps now thatsnot a big issue but ive looked on ebay and found some for 25 pounds but they look like they just push-clip in is this correct because the ones im buying i think are after market and if made out of cheap plastic might fly of on the motorway also with the origionals are they fitted the same way ? could sombody just pop them of and steal them ? is there any type of locking device i can get besides super glue as i wouldnt want to ruin the refurb job with super glue to be honest as my last set on my fiesta st were stolen :( toe rags .. any info or opinions would help i would be realy great full

thanks in advance :)

No they just clip in, but I went to skoda to get my replacements.

Not sure about the aftermarket ones though.

Not worth nicking but I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to get the old ones off they were that tight!

They just pop in to the OE alloys. Very hard to remove while the wheel is

still on but just pop out from the rear with the wheel off.

I bought a set of 4 from ebay for about £24 recently when I got my

alloys refurbed. The genuine ones should be made of a pale grey plastic

with an alloy roundel on the face. If they are made of black

plastic then I doubt they are genuine. There is someone selling them singly

currently for £7 odd each but the ones I bought aren't there anymore.

Got mine from original skoda dealer. About £6.50 each I think but they are OEM VAG part and fit spot on

Go to Skoda get the proper ones with brand new logo already fitted.

As said around the £6.00+vat each. (55mm is the size of centre discs).

I think in general, if a VAG part is big enough, it will have its part number on the rear of the item - and that is true right down to brake pad wear plugs/sockets - though in that example you would need a good magnifying glass! So, no p/n will normally equate to not VAG supplied. The part number will be a string of 3-off "letter and number" followed by 3-off "numbers" followed by 3-off "numbers and maybe one or two letters, also as its plastic, it should carry some material identification to cover "end of life" management.

Is just one of many!

6U0601151LMHB yup - if you looked at the link I posted thats them!

I've had the VW logos stolen out of the BBS's on my Polo. :(

Would replace them with the BBS style ones, but they'll last even less time no doubt!

I don't know how the Skoda ones are designed, but on some of the VW ones the front lifts off the backing, and the two separate (although I think the current design has got around that). Might be worth trying to wrap them in some clear plastic, or lacquer them too keep the road dirt/water off?
