Felicia 1.9 SDI Loss of power & lots of smoke

Featured Replies

I have a Felicia 1.9 SDI that i think its about to die.

Its lost that much power it wont go up any form of hill flat out in first gear!

When its under load you can hear it knocking and banging really loud and it pours of gray smoke,

The oil level is fine and is on the max,

I dont know if its related but when i try go up a hill the engine temp goes down

I have looked in the oil and water and they seem ok so i dont think its the head gasket so has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

I seem to think its about the seize

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated

 First thing I would do [that could save you a lot of expense and hassle] is check that the timing belt hasn't slipped a tooth or few due to either the belt itself failing or a tensioner fault. I wouldn't run the engine at all until I'd checked that.

I checked the Timing that was all fine what I've found is that if I take the hose off the egr valve all it's problems go away

It's probably crud in the EGR or pipework causing excess crankcase pressure then. I don't recommend doing this as a rule, but try running it with the oil filler cap off to confirm (hoepfully lack of) symptoms.

just blank the egr pipework off then mate it won't effect mot emmisions or anything, usually I stick a BB pellet in them to blank the pipe off
