Likely Gains from ARL 150 Turbo?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I happen to have the turbo off a Golf GT TDI 150 ARL to hand - how many bhp do you usually gain by fitting one of these to a Fabia VRS?

I've also got the larger alloy intake pipe from one of these - are they worth fitting?

I will be looking to get the car mapped (obviously) - how many brake can I expect with just the map and how many with the above fitted?

Thanks. :)

About 190-200 is possible, but expect to heatsoak the SMIC pretty quickly.

With the standard intercooler you can expect around 190, with an FMIC we have seen around 205, more on the hybrid versions.

Ok, and it would be about 170ish on the standard turbo if mapped?

Not looking to squeeze every last ounce out of it, just seems like a good opportunity for more power given I already have the turbo to hand. :)

Ok, recommendations for mapping would be good too - I am based in Kent.

I had a Passat 130 mapped in the past and liked the way the curve worked out on that - it basically followed the standard power curve but gave you more of it right the way through, tailed off a bit higher up the rev range and had the dip they all have at around 2,000rpm ironed out.

I think it did the clutch a lot of good as whilst it was much quicker than standard, it didn't throw all the power in all of a sudden as I've found the cheap tuning boxes and some of the maps I've tried out there on other stuff have tended to do.

If you're in the Kent area then speak to site sponsors W8 Performance who are a dealer for our maps (Shark Performance)

Have you got any example power graphs I could have a look at, please.

I'm afraid I don't right now, but if you send an email to the address on our website then we can get a couple of examples emailed across to you.
