Sat Nav crashed first time I used it.

Featured Replies

Went for a longish run today for the first time in the 170CR 4x4 Elegance and just as I turned on the M1 at J24 the sat nav said I was off road! For the next half hour the sat nav was churning away trying to determine where we were and occasionally settled on a location which each time I guess was about a mile or two away from where we really were. This is the first time I've used the sat nav and it was OK for about an hour before it crashed. Turning it off and on again made no difference. After leaving the car switched off for an hour or so and then trying it again, it was OK for the couple of hours I drove home. Anyone else had this happen on a Columbus sat nav unit, or is it faulty? Thanks.

Not had it personally, but if it does it again you can force a re-boot by turning it on and then pressing the < > & top right button together (3 buttons in total) and keep them pressed for about 10 seconds, the screen will go blank and re-boot.

If this does not cure it then get it into the dealers.

Had this myself when the car was about 3 weeks old, the unit couldn't get an accurate fix but then it reset itself. It just shut itself down, rebooted itself (i'd guess) and then worked fine.
