VAG 15" 6J steel Wheels Centre Caps to fit

The centre caps from your alloy wheels will fit on the front steel wheels (assuming you have standard alloys). I've done the same on mine.

Yeah but will look a bit sily given that they won't go on the rear too.

looks alright

True, but it keeps the crud off of the hub nut.

I've got mine in

But left the rear as they are?

Yes, but they are capped already in a manner of speaking.

Nothing else can fit in there. I'm only worried about looks in the summer.

If you wanted to be really anal about it then you could get some cheap cap

stickers to go on while the steels are fitted and stick them directly into

the metal wheel centres? Then pull em off when the alloys go back on.

Na - not that bothered.

I assume the fronts are ok to be left open as they are anyway?

Hi All,

Now I have some time off over Christmas, I decided to give this another go. The guys at SkodaParts.com suggested I cut the outer rim from the caps I bought from them (Part number earlier in this thread).

So I did! I didn't have a jigsaw so cut them using a hacksaw by hand. They are not perfect but look fine I think!

Once done they will push all the way back and clip firmly into place over the wheel nuts. I then got out the spray paint and coloured them matt black.

This is what they look like on the car.

The pic above was the worst cut one that I did first. The others are better.

Anyway - an alternative to covering your winter steel wheels! B)

Now that looks 'The Dogs'!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

good work, looks nice

Result!

Maybe a picture of the underside of a modified cap would help others to gauge just how much to take of - that could be compared with the pictures you took of the unmodified cover.

Yeah will do when get time. Basically just cut the rim off. You can see it on the underside. A couple of mm.

Here's a question, are your steel wheels actually made by

VAG? They look different to mine. :wonder:

The couple of mm trimmed may not be necessary if they are going on

16" OE steels.I'm going to have to order one of these caps to see if it fits

without the trimming. How much were they and what was the part number?

As said the pictures are of 15" wheels, VAG standard pattern for 14" and 15" steels does include these square "holes" for fixing the full wheel covers to. I'd reckon that all the VAG 16" steel wheels are still just full of equal sixed holes as they were designed for full wheel covers that clip in to the wheel rim.

Edit, so that probably means that these covers would fit will out any mods.
