Police dos and donts

Im sorry if this comes across the wrong way...

but if your going to have black windows all round, tinted lights etc etc.. then your asking to be pulled... so be ready to take whatever they give you! (normally fines and points!)

and for the people who seem to openly say they speed and generally drive like idiots.. "AND SEEM TO BE PROUD OF IT"! you deserve to lose your license.. i know for one if you come round a roundabout wheel spinning thinking your "hard" in front of your mates and hit a friend or family member of mine.. points would be the last thing you would need to worry about! and im sure alot of members on here would agree with me!

lets be serious.. we all have skoda's! not ferrari's! there not made to be driven the way people drive them! and if you modify them.. take them to the track!

i have personaly lost friends through people driving like idiots and i dont think its big and clever to do it! hence im saying this!

but back on topic.. as for the plates and stuff being spaced badly.. expect the fines! im fitting my personalised plate when i get my VRS and i know i eventualy will get pulled but i know the risks and will carry standard plates hoping to be let off! my plate is J13 MEX but spaced as J13ME X!

sorry, will get off my high horse now!

rant over! lol

I kind of agree with you, i think there is a time and place but do you think skoda, audi, vw and the rest sell stuff like the VRS, R32, RS4 for tracks days ?

Lets get serious would you buy one of these cars and drive within the speed limit all the time, if you would why did you waste your money, you might aswell have gotten something slower like a diesel with a good trim spec like a sline etc. We buy those cars for the engine and thrill of speed, we take our chances on the public roads and run the gauntlet, we map them and mod them to go faster, stop quicker and look better. My VRS is my poor mans ferrari, it may not be a ferrari but i love it all the same, its the best i can afford and with every little bit of money i throw at it i love it a little more.

I don't think people drive like that to look "HARD", its about a adrenaline rush and personally when i used to do this all i wanted that adrenaline rush, i can now look back and say it is stupid but every now and then......

Just my opinion and not intended to offend anyone

im not disputing what your saying one bit.. every single one of my cars has been made to "go faster" but my "going faster" is normally on roads WELL out the way of anybody and police! hence i never have bother. if your being pulled by police, your obviously doing it around/near other cars or they wouldnt have seen you.

i have had so many cars that i could easily break the speed limit in, 200+bhp mini! heavily tuned nissan 200sx, audi a3 quattro etc. but, there is a time and place..

im also the same as you, i love my car to bits.. im gutted im having to sell up and get a diesel.. but i still want the speed hence getting the VRS as apposed to a car which is slower but will probably drive alot better!

the way i look as things.. i can drive like an idiot on my own all i like.. if i kill myself its my fault.. but im in no posistion to be able to someone elses life at risk (either as a passenger or another road user) and i dont think anybody is.. speed on your own, flip your car and die.. thats yur decision.. but hit a car with a family in it and kill them? thats what im trying to get across..

every body speeds. im not saying for a second i dont, my mini is quite often in the 3 figure numbers (KM's on private road) but there's a time and place! :)

Ive had a couple of run in's with the police, a few memorable ones:-

I was followed by a jumped up local, onto the a303, i was running a clio 172 on coilovers, cage, and R888's, and did the on slip at 60, knowing he couldnt(lol) Promptly up to 73mph, and sat there, he came blazing up behind me, almost to the stage where i couldnt see his headlights behind me, I kept my cool and carried on. Bit further i got off and carried on along some A/B roads, about 4 miles later, he pulls me(was just a question of when) the conversation went like this:

PC "Why were you speeding?" (his attitude stunk, and got my back up..)

Me " I wasn't. I was doing 70."

P " I had to do 90 to catch up with you"

M " Erm, Well, Yeah, you'd have to, if you satd at 70 we would've stayed the same distance apart wouldn't we..."

P Oddly, didnt answer back.. "Why were you all over the road?"

M " I wasn't, I was doing the lines I've been taught." (Roadcraft, and I am also a qualified instructor for RoSPA)

P " Well, who ever taught you those needs to learn themselves"

M " Funny you should say that, as he is a Class 1 Police pursuit instructor, and used to teach at chelmsford." (my dad...)

P " Oh." "On your way, and stop speeding."

M " no Problem, May I take your number officer." (proceeded in doing so and made my way, leaving him very red faced.

That was me having done nothing wrong, I could see before going to the A303 he was on a charge for me.

The next one, well, was my fault, and inturn, took a very relaxed approach.

Story goes, Me being immature, and young, had a fast car and decided to take it on the motorway for a blast. I have since learnt my lesson. I had clipped the limiter in 5th in my clio williams. Promtply to be pulled by the marked unit that was in a police layby.

PC "You know why we've stopped you?"

Me "No?"

P "Because of your speed, We've had to do over 140mph to catch up with you"

M "Oh, I was above 70, but not that far?"

P "Come sit in the car"

At this point, My world had fallen out my arse.

PC2 "Decided the motorway was a PLayground!?"

M " Sorry, i didnt realise i had gone that fast."

PC Asked for my licence, i handed it over

P1"Got any points?"

M "yes, 3."

P2"good"

(I then thought, well, im getting exceeding the speed limit)

P1 "Theres your licence(handing it back) now, SLOW THE **** DOWN. If we were un marked we'd have had you. Now on your way."

That little warning/fright, did a world of good for me. I since, have a whole new respect for the police and how they handle the situation as you are with them. give them attitude, and they'll hang you out to dry.

I am sorry if it came across as proud of driving recklessly, I promise I am not prod of it, these were all long ago in the past, since I have owned fast cars, I have not actually endorsed any points for bad driving, only the ones for the tyre which like I said, I had no excuse for. (It has passed an MOT a few weeks before with no advisories, wont be taking the car back there, but turned out the tracking was off and worn the tyres unevenly!)

I have been driving since the day I was 17, passed my test with only 2 minors and never had an accident and that was over 10 years ago and 5 cars later. I have clocked many miles inc driving to uni in south wales from the lakes and returning home regularly for 3 years and collage 60 miles away and back every day for 2 years and living in the lakes with all our interesting weather for the last 4 years.

One officer said to me once, I know you can drive, its the idiots on the pavements you need to watch out for! Never a truer word spoken, and that has stuck with me.

Out of interest, what's the average price to get the rear windows professionally tinted on an MK1 Octy?

it wasnt you i was talking about tbh lol! other members and different forum users seem to love the fact they drive like idiots ha. got one on my facebook constantly putting up video's! (he was actualy banned from driving a few weeks back!) ironik really!

Or you could do the very cocky:

"I do not understand the significance of your words and I would like to exercise my legal right to refer to PACE, the Police and Criminal Evidence Act"

I'm sure I saw years ago that some dude on a forum used that with a all "high and mighty" type traffic cop which just ended up letting him go and leaving him alone...

The total opposite is also an option, I have been at a police station when a driver was brought in to read PACE, took him over 3 hours.
