Had a bit of luck at the breakers......

Featured Replies

A friend of mine wanted to go to the breakers yesterday so I thought I would go with him to see if they had a mk4 golf with an armrest, they didn't but as we were leaving I spotted an Octavia that only arrived this week and to my surprise it did have an armrest so 10 mins later and for a great price of only £25 I now have this (complete with all bolts and brackets):-

So this morning my car went from this :-

Lucky git! Good find and price m8

Yes but you would have to buy a different mounting bracket and different plastic side parts as the Octavia and the golf are slightly different.

I must be unique in thinking these are pointless and in the way up or down, I'd give mine away except it broke.

I love mine

Afraid you must be unique, Kandy

Not unique buddy, took mine out as I found it gets in the way either up or down. Using handbrake is naf with it in the way. And even gear change you have to have your arm higher.

So that makes 2 of us. :giggle:

So do either of u wanna sell/giveaway lol

Amen to that. Hate mine with a passion.

It has its uses. I managed to get two 4"x4"x2.5m fence posts in my hatchback. The armrest kept the posts of the gearstick. Usually, it's in the up position.

Its also good for stopping the dogs from jumping between the seats into the front of the car, other than that chocolate teapot...............

Sorry sold mine some time back buddy...

I use the mrs for that :giggle:

SWMBO's car has one and it does my head in. Just gets in the way.

I'm so disappointed, I try my best to be abnormal. Sigh.

Better luck next time. ;)

Just got rid of mine, thanks Raf!

Completely unrelated but I had some excellent luck at a scrapyard recently too.

A pigeon broke my driver's side mirror glass when I hit it at about 50mph.

Skoda dealer (useless, apathetic, incompetent) couldn't figure out which was the replacement glass for definite but managed to cobble something together for £60.

"No way José", i said, and got myself down to my local scrapyard where I found a replacement mirror glass (same size and shape) on an Audi A4! Same fitment and everything.

£3. Bargain!

Just got rid of mine, thanks Raf!

Thanks Sam plesure doing buisness with you m8, after over a year trying get one, can't wait for it to come!

Just literally removed it. In the dark. Holding a torch and trying to undo all the bolts.

THAT was fun... :dull:

Will get it out to you as soon as possible. :)

I am actually from Huddersfield. Sure I can arrange a trip at some point- any excuse to test the mpgzzzzzz out!

And 2S2F- it's a good thing that Octimus is an estate. Leave her alone. :D

Do the estate and hatch have the same rear crossmember/chassis underpinning..? Maybe..?
