Towbar + electrics?

Featured Replies

Hi there!

I'm looking to get a towbar fitted for my Roomster 2, but I'm a bit confused. It says in the manual (under where it says towbars are optional) that Roomsters come with fitted electrics- does this mean that I do not need to get a fitter to do the electrics, as they are already there, or they are prepped for, or they are still an optional extra. I haven't looked for any yet as I am a new mum with baby brain! Any advice would be gratefully received, so I can get some accurate quotes :D

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum :hi:

I would assume that there will be some of the (structral) fitting points in place on the vehicle. Elecrtics wise this is likely to be a specific loom or circuit that can probably be retro fitted and activated/coded with VAG-Com (VCDS)

Hope this helps.

Edit: Some info on pricing etc in >>>HERE<<<

Hi,

What the manual means is that their is a connector in the wiring loom ready to accept a tow bar wiring loom, a quick check shows that you will need a extra loom part number EEA700001E4,cost £71,It would also need coding as in above post if you have parking sensors fitted.

Regards

Tony

Yes I have fitted quite a few of the genuine kits.

They have a small loom that plugs into the rear lighter socket and the lamps.

I'd imagine the towbar fitter will probably quote for using a 7-way bypass relay for the wiring. Probably about £20-£30 for the unit. Unless you specifically request using the genuine parts.

Thanks guys,

I don't understand all the technical ins and outs, but from what you tell me, I understand I need to get quotes for the tow bar fitting with 7 Pin electrics? E.G. http://www.tamartrailercentre.co.uk/p/towbar-selector

You'll find that the Roomster kit is for 13 pin electrics
