New clutch from Mr Clutch

Featured Replies

Detected a bit of slip in the clutch today that I couldn't check for on the test drive as the tyres span first.

Basically in 4th when boost comes in at 2k the revs rose quickly to 3k and then it gripped again. Seems as if it's repeatable as I tested and it did it again. So at 90k I think I am into the early stages of clutch failure. There are no untoward rattles or vibes so I think the DMF is fine so I was thinking that the fully fitted and warranted (2 years or 20k) price from the local Mr Clutch is £250 so I'd take it there and get it done. my mate had one fitted to my old Civic there and he said it was fine so what do people reckon OK or not? and is this symptom just clutch failure?

Cheers,

Carl.

You'd be as well getting the DMF done at the same time, Which will push the price up!

eeek, not what I was hoping for, I had budgeted for a 20k service in the purchase price but not £400's worth of parts. Will see what they quote tomorrow and also have a word with my mate who was at a VAG dealership as a tech for 4 years and see what he reckons (hopefully offers to change it). Never had a clutch go with slip (I've destroyed two Honda pressure plates in the past) and never had anything with a DMF (apart from the current two cars), the rest of the driving experience is perfect though no judder, no noise but I know what you mean with a false economy and all that.

Common sense to get it done at the same time, If the DMF goes in 6 months time saves paying twice for labour. And at 90k it's only a matter of time!

My clutch started slipping in 4th about a year ago, Its still going lol, its fine most the time but im getting every last mile out of it lol.

I would defo fit a flywheel at the same time because if you just fit the clutch and the flywheel fails say after fitting the new cltch you will have to pay to have it removed agen and poss a new clutch.
