GPS tracking? - Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have little to zero knowledge of GPS/tech etc but it occurred to me today that the Columbus has built in sat nav which will zoom into your location which I guess gets a fix of GPS

So to me that means the car has a GPS sender/receiver built in so surely there must be a way of either

a. adding some firmware/hardware

b. altering the Columbus code

to enable a sort of built in GPS tracker? that you could log into via the net or cell phone and get a location of your car?

Like I said, I have no idea how or what would needed to be done but its an interesting thought?

Sadly, your GPS is a receiver only, so you would need some other means of sending an alarm or tracking signal. It's usually done with a GSM PAYG mobile SIM card. They sell these things for buttons on ebay, do I wouldn't be looking to modify a nice Columbus!

Motion GPS app for iPhone does this
