throttle response

Featured Replies

just got a 2003 octavia , upgrading from the good ol saxo, have noticed there seems to be alot less response from the throttle though , not sure if this is normal??? any ideas on what it could be ?

Clean the throttle body to start with

The check the breather pipes

coil packs

sparks

vac pipes

You have to remember that the saxo is a high revving light weight french car so it will be nippier off the line but overall will hold no comparison.

I presume you mean the cars lacks the ability to 'blip' the throttle when idling? If so, yes, it's normal. Compared to the missus's MR2, the throttle response in the vRS is almost non-existant. With the MR2, you can blip the throttle at lights and between gearchanges, and it responds really fast.

And as DBP said, the saxo is a nippy little french hatch with a cable operated throttle (like the MR2). The Skoda isn't, and has a drive by wire throttle, so there's bit of lag there.

Is it a 1.8T, a 1.9Tdi, 1.4, 1.6, 2.0? The turbo ones do hesitate a bit compared to an N/A car but when the turbo spools up you soon feel it pull.
