Featured Replies

HI EVERYONE,

I'M NEW TO THE SITE, HAVING OWNED AN OCTAVIA FOR 5 YEARS I'VE JUST BOUGHT A 3 YEAR OLD FABIA 1.4 TDI FOR MY WIFE ( SHE SAID IT WAS A BIT GEEKY HAVING 2 SKODAS ON THE DRIVE). HOWEVER I WAS SOLD THE CAR WITH ONLY ONE KEY. I WOULD LIKE A SPARE, ANY ADVICE? I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAS A TRANSPONDER IN IT AND IF SO DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Blimey I heard that in Derbyshire !

Joking apart, don't use all capitals when typing it is a form of shouting !

But yes the key will have a transponder (chip) for the immobilizer, and poss would be easer to go to the dealer, but won't be cheap !

THis another way, by getting one off ebay, then you will have to have it cut to the original key and then it has to be coded, and if has central locking, that has to be coded as well.

Sorry about that it wasn't intentional. thanks for your reply, getting the key coded? I presume that will have to be done by the dealer?

If CAPS is shouting, what's whispering?
