Pure Highway DAB install

Featured Replies

Evening All

I am going to post this in the ICE section as well but has anyone done something similar to below and can give me some tips/instructions.

I want to install my Pure Highway into my glovebox as it will complete my listening experience in the car combined with the music on the hdd in the columbus.

I have got the aerial down the a pillar and into the box no problem. My problem us where i can tap into a live, preferably a switched one to get power and secondly how to run the cable out of the glovebox into the aux socket in the armrest.

Thanks in advance.

For me, I would get a professional to do it, but if your adventurous, you could put the wires under the carpet or though the centre console

Not much help, but still

For a switched live you will need to go all the way to the main fusebox. The Superb, just like the Octy2 uses canbus signals to control all its electrical devices so there are no switched supplies behind the radio or dash that would be suitable. The only 12V supplies behind the radio / dash are always on non switched supplies, coupled with canbus data wiring to control the various devices.

To get all the way to the aux socket with the wire out of sight should in theory be easy, but you will have to drill quiet a large hole in the centre console jumbo box to get the connector through into box and then plug in.

I've just had my hands free car kit (THB Bury one) installed by Vodafone - unfortunately, didn't spec the BT.

The VF guy did a fantastic job and has fitted the kit, microphone and tax disc antenna very well indeed - the kit works with an wiring kit to mute the stereo on receiving a call, then fades it back in 5 secs after call has ended.

When he had completed the install, he commented that he couldn't actually find a switched feed (which confirms Mannyo's comment above) and had to utilise a "ghost" feed, whatever that means.

I would suggest getting a professional to sort the wiring - in the past I have done bits on older cars (eg Octy 1) but wouldn't dream of attempting to do anything on the newer models for fear of upsetting the electrical canbus systems.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have now put it through the FM transmitter so do not need to run to the centre console and don't seem to get any interference.

Just got to sort out the power. I have a Trent rechargeable battery pack. Hopefully that will sort out the power.
