Tyres - Evergreen?

Hi Guys

New to the forum. Just bought a 53 plate vrs and need to get some new tyres for the two front wheel. I have read a few of the topics on here about tyres. I have just rung my local tyre place asking about the tyres they have in stock and he mention they have budget one's which I don't really want and then some mid range ones called evergreen?

Has anyone heard of these and are they any good? Going to research on the net now but thought people might have first hand experience here. I realise the tyre topic has been covered alot but in my search of the forum I could not find any reference to the evergreen brand.

Thanks in advance

Evergreen? Same colour as the hedge you'll end up in. (Joking)

I am a big fan of Falken ZE912 which should come in at about £60 a corner.

I consider that a mid range tyre at that price.

I have a them on all 3 of my cars. I was out in the MX5 at the weekend

putting it through its paces and they were terrific, took a lot of effort to get

them to let go even on a rear wheel drive car with the traction control off.

Hello and welcome to the Forum. :hi:

If you can find them, Uniroyal Rainsport 2s are very good.

I've heard of GreenTyre, who make puncture proof bicycle tyres, but not evergreen

You'll be doing very well to find the Falkens for £60 a corner, in fact a fully fitted one from mytyres is £85. I got a shock as I thought they were cheaper and compared what I paid for the Kumhos I fitted to my Mitsi Grandis back in May and for 235/45 ZR18's. I paid £85 a tyre then, now the same tyre is over £140 from the same place.

Let me just say I'm not trying to suggest that they are the best tyres ever.

But they are decent mid range rubber from a known brand.

Here they are at £55 inc vat

Granted there's shipping to take into account.

Which gives a total for a full set £231.96

Plus say a tenner each fitting and balancing.

Full set of fairly decent mid range tyres fitted for £271.96

I think the OP only wants two so halve that.

FFS, they had next to nothing last week, they even have Brigestones at £40 now (1 Wanli last week at £40!), I bought a Goodride from mytyres for £65 as it was the best I could get (my rear pass was cut and split and looking well frankly dangerous) if I'd have ordered now I would have got a pair of those ER300's as when I had them on my VTi they were good.

Yes, I have heard of Evergreen because of some controversy in the US.

Shandong Jinyu Tire is a subsiduary of a cash-rich chinese company. Unlike many many of the cheap tyre producers who buy old tyre production lines, Jinyu have poached top tyre designers from the US/elsewhere and bought some specialist US companies. They then built a state of the art plant.

Nobody cared until they started producing cheap, high performance/quality tyres, at which point it became unfair competition/dumping.

I take it the brand name of those inexpensive high performance tyres is indeed evergreen then?

Looks like they don't make anything bigger than a 16 having a look at their site.

Yes - but I haven't tried them myself. The same company has also been buying into tyre distribution, so you will be seeing more of this brand.

+1 here for the Falkens, been using these for just under two years now and I would recommend these.

Just put some on the front of mine for winter.

Obviously they don't grip like my ZZ3's but they seem solid enough. Yesterday was the first use of them in the cold/frost and they do feel more secure at low temperatures. Ain't tried them in the snow yet...

Come spring they will come off and be stored for winter.
