Any had there clutch changed at Unit 18?

Featured Replies

I lot of threads on here recommend Unit18 & I hear that they are quite reasonably priced.

Because of the large initial sum for a DMF & Clutch replacement, I’m looking at purchasing the items first & having the work done the following month or so to spread the costs.

Has anyone on here had there DMF + Clutch changed at Unit18? If so, how much was labour? (Approximate, don’t need an exact amount)

Cheers.

Ah see it's all about the the bigger picture B)

I had my clutch changed by unit 18 approx a year ago, i sold the car soon after because i had the opportunity to lease a car. They provide faultless service with excellent attention to detail. IIRC i think it was approx £300 for clutch, slave and master cylinder, Ali noted the DMF was tip top and would be pointless changing.

Best thing is to call him,

Charged me £125 to remove and fit a supplied gearbox plus fill with new oil. Can't see a clutch change costing much more than that. Oh and top work by Ali and his team.

I got clutch flywheel, release bearing

Eibachs fitted

312's fitted

Cupra console bushes

All for £120

 not at unit 18 tho!

100% agree with the above, really helpful and knowledgeable service, Ally knows hit stuff, also as a massive bonus is pretty much the cheapest around.

Amazing price, where was that?

2 old boys now retired but still work on cars to put the day in....

Both worked at volvo for 40 odd years

Ones 70 and the others 80

Still volvo certified so can do fvsh!

There cheap too as there stuck in the 70's lol

Unit 18 is the nuts, rarely let anyone else work on my car, it's just pointless

I've tried tons of local garages and mechanics but still decide to do a 2-3 hour round trip to Unit 18 instead, in the long run it's far easier

Took my car to 2 local garages to have a noise diagnosed, both had a look round for a bit, had to wait around for literally hours whilst they fitted me in

In the end they both said they're not sure and to just let it get worse to make diagnosis easier. The noise was already horrific...

Took it to Ali and within 30 seconds of it being on the ramp the dog bone mount was off and saw that it had excess ware, then checked the gearbox mount to see that was ****** which was causing the engine to hit against the front ARB. Effortless... Shame he couldn't get a part that day otherwise it would have been sorted that day. Instead, it's being ordered in and I'll go back there to have it fitted

I just find it a waste of time going anywhere else

Another example... Used AmD to diagnose another problem, they said it was 2 majorly ****** 2 front wheel bearings, wanted to charge me £400 for them. I had to pay £45 to have that diagnosed. I knew Ali would be far cheaper so took it to him and he instantly discovered it was actually the CV joint and the wheel bearings were absolutely fine, so I would have paid £445 for NO reason. Instead I went back to AmD and got a refund for wrong dianosis. if I had went through with it, and the noise was still there, I wonder what would have happened then...

generally just had tons of bad experiences at lots of local garages, sooner make a long ish trip and know it's gunna be done right.

i'd highly recconmend unit 18, practically done most things to my car and i give it death, never had anything bad done by them, cheap as chips too
