Car weather protectors ?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone know where to get a good quality, fitted, car cover. I hate scrapping the car at 0545 in the morning, and plan on keeping the car for many years so will justify the cost.

Thanks

poundshop have some that just cover the screen, the full cover i had was great but once its all wet and icy where do you put it once you remove it, very messy imho

£30, thats a lot of money, i can pretty much do the same with some card board on the windscreen and some cheap off cuts from dunelm joined together to make a car cover, or just use some old clothes and plastic bags

Well it is only £22.49 with the discount and delevered, and fully waterproofed , last night it rained then froze on the car like bubble wrap, cant imagine how soggy, then frozen cardboard would be to get off

Just get a screen one which folds into the interior close the door hey presto, I've tried the full car ones when they are cold icy and stiff as a dead bird, you'll chuck it in the garage or shed and forget about it, I put one on the front 1 on the rear job done ;)

and stiff as a dead bird, ;)

I once went out with a Stiff Bird

Woops, Sorry wrong thread emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Reviewing my previous post on not bothering with car covers, guess what I've just bought 2 one for each fabia they only cover the roof and windows, bargain at aldi or lidl only £5.99 seem like good stuff 2

20 foot heated garage for me :giggle:

Heated front screens ought to be made standard fit on uk cars IMO, I think they are a major safety device and would prevent many accidents. The Ford screens are great and they fit these into even low model Fiesta's as standard.

Cheers

Same here garage with enough room for 2 cars!, however we've got 2 fabias and Audi a3 sport back but garage is full of crap, mountain bikes road bikes and loads more of stuff!! If I put the fabia in i would have to move the others every day but the cover will same me scrapping in the morning

to protect the front u can wrap the front with cling film, might even improve mpg. if u look closely the front grill is only half vented and the lower side grills are actually fake.

Ford own the patent for the front heated screen which is why its only their cars that have it.

I thought a heated front screen is an optional extra on the skoda superb...maybe not..or maybe the patent has ran out

thanks, r they the same at both stores. i might consider one at £6 depending on what quality they are like. it's still £6 of my hard earned money.

I got this in my car :) Defa Warmup http://wup.defa.com/en/wup_products_wupkits.html

With DEFA WarmUp installed you get a warm interior, ice-free windshields, fully charged battery and a easy to start engine. The result is an environmentally friendly car

Recomended.. +++

how much would one of those kits set u back. about £25-30 is my guess?

An old wives tail. May be ten years ago.

A lot of cars now have heated front screens, including the Yeti and Superb.

I bought two of these; they do different sizes so I got the estate one for my Octavia estate and a large hatchback one for my Octavia hatch.

They cover all the windows and hook under each wheel arch.

From Maypole so good quality, £6.99 each, I got free postage for buying two.

On a morning I simply pull them off and sling them through the garage door. Job done.

Ok, so I am going to make a homemade version of that defa warmup device. Using a fan heater, extension lead and a remote controlled standby saver plug socket. Only issue is how to get the lead into the car. Any ideas ?

Done it, just need it to freeze now. Just put the cable in then closed the door, seems fine. It all works and car was pre warmed for me at 545 this morning, which was nice.

Bring on the ice now.
