more issues.....yayyy

Featured Replies

ok so car got instrument cluster replaced  £380 inc fitting  but it work :)

new hub on driverside and we find out the hub was never the issue, the "brand new" bearings we fitted were not genuine but they were from a motor factors 'to save money as ive spent a fortune' big mistake, so yeah the bearing came loose along with the crappy clip and was half way out the hub hence why griding noise. so without knowing this was the issue and thinking the hub was the problem, i bought another bering 'cheap one' for the 'new' hub and here i should have kept my old hub and bought genuine bearings, hindsight eh.. worst thing is that new cheap bearing that was halfway out the hub was split, and im talking 2 weeks old, :o potenially i was in serious danget that the wheel could have fallen off!!

anyways new hub on with cheap bearing i set off to Skoda for my cluster to get fitted, oooooh no, something aint right, griding from the opposite side now.......and steering instead of being heavy which it had been, seemed non existant and by this i mean overly light. as if you didnt have wheels on the car and were jacked up, like gliding on ice.....horrible feeling....got to skoda and warned them whoever was fitting the cluster to be careful driving it. once done and cluster was working i drove round the bend....the cluster wasnt the issue with the steering and all faults still present. so i called my bro and he came from his work and took it a drive, we both decided i wasnt driving it home...something well wrong...so now its sat outside my bro work awaiting a 'genuine' bearing for passenger side and to find out why the sterring is playing up....

main moral of this story is "buy cheap, buy twice" i will go for genuine parts for things like bearings in the future. i have another cheapy installed on passenger side but if i hear a slight should that it could be loose i will be buying a genuine one for there too.

so i currently have no car but a set of 312mm brakes downstairs that came today :( . I know 1 issue but have no ideas about the steering, no leaking so i dont imagine the seals have gone in the rack. very strange. i still have an abs issue due to passeneger bering not being 100% in. im due to greet.

any ideas on very light steering that seems to want to buckle round?
