How come you have wiring but no additional amp/speaker setup?I'd remove it if not being used, or at least cut the excess wire away!

The previous owner had an amp and sub fitted but removed when he sold it and left the wires all in place. Don't want to remove in case i decide to fit a few ICE options!

Mines in the crash bar think yours lOoks better

You reckon? It was just for ease of access at the crash bar as there isn't much room to drain etc where it is at the air box.

Fair enough, but you could hack all of that excess wire off and it'll be far tidier!

Yea it's getting tidied at some point today, along with an EGR clean (looking forward to that...) and a check-up on how my catch can is doing.

If anyone could offer some advice - my catch can is filled up a few millimetres with clear liquid, is this just condensed vapour from the crankcase then? It's also got greenish sludge in it which I can only assume is the oil which means it's doing its job.

EDIT: Got a few things done today, sorry about the pictures; it was getting dark just as i finished!

First of all was the polo rear wiper, ordered a £15 cheapy from ebay. Build quality isn't exactly VAG but it'll do me fine, it functions perfectly despite the small gaps between parts as you'll see below:

Secondly I received these treats in the post: Osram night breaker "plus 90%" bulbs, 4mm vacuum hose, and 5m of Samco silicon wrap:

img2012020300124.jpg

I wrapped the silicon hoses to and from the oil catch can red to match the rest of my engine bay, and also replaced all the vacuum hoses with red ones :)

img2012020300131.jpg

img2012020300129.jpg

I think it looks much better!

ONE PROBLEM though, when i started the car up after replacing the vacuum hoses all was fine, then when i turned the car off it sounded a bit more harsh than usual. It turns off quicker than before and also the vacuum box seems to hum/buzz now when it didn't before i replaced the hoses. Have i damaged something? Any help would be appreciated!

Managed a beautiful 56.5mpg over the 200 miles :)

New bulbs all round and wrapped the "elbow" join between the intercooler and the EGR valve:

Looking excellent bud, liking the engine bay touches

The mounting place for your catch can is a great idea, I've been struggling to find somewhere suitable and I think you might have just solved my problem!

Just noticed it looks like your still running with the PD130 intake, not temped to go for the bigger PD160 intake?

Look great mate! As for the catch can, the green sludge is normal it's the oil mixed with the vapour so don't worry. I think I'm gonna mount my catch can in the same place as yours lol I keep getting a strange vibration and I think it's mine mounted at the front lol where did you get your hoses and adapters from? What all would I need to do it like yours? :)

Yea I would go for it if one was available on the cheap, if definitely seems like a worthwhile mod, but £100 odds for an intake is ridiculous in my opinion!

No problem cheers! I got mine all in a kit from ebay here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170739934782 - and threaded the spare fittings into the existing CCV pipes if you know what i mean?:

img2012012600076.jpg

I then got hose from my local parts store, i think it's actually car coolant hosing, but it works flawlessly!

Bought Samco silicone wrap off ebay for £10 and wrapped the hosing red to match the car.

Yep that's the same tank that's already on mine :) what sizes did you use etc as I can't remember lol

I'm not entirely sure, think the hose was 16mm internal diameter? It meant really tightening the jubilee clips at the intake and rocker cover fittings at these were the spare ones provided with the catch can, 10mm i think.

Got the fog surrounds, lower grille and number plate plinth all sprayed black tonight. Looks well so jus have to re spray the upper grille and that'll be the front all tidied up.

Had to take bumper off to get at lower grille:

I think the black fog surrounds look excellent with the yellow fogs. Gonna do another layer of tint on the fogs soon for a darker yellow.

Nice looking motor B)

I'd be incredibly weary about DIY spray jobs on the front of the car, destined to chip! Get some abrasive polish on your black paint mate, it'll bring it up to shine better, looks a little flat. Is your bumper back on properly also? Looks a little low under the passenger light.

Nice as a whole though!

I put a load of coats of primer, colour and also lacquer - it's never gonna chip!

Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, the bumper fits pretty well.

Aye the previous owner did, they're easily removed and are only held on by an adhesive tape so no holes are left.

So some idiot reversed into my newly sprayed number plate surround, had to respray that today..

Did the ventectomy mod as well, very easy to do and I think it gets another 5-10litres in?

Gonna do a diesel purge sometime soon to get the injectors cleaned up, and callipers are getting refurbed soon too.

Love this photo: Yellow fogs, black grille and tow strap.

Bought a mk4 armrest of Mattievrs and arrived today. It's a custom one he made, trimmed to match the interior seats.

I absolutely love it!

Looks great mate, glad you like it! Adds a certain something to the interior and feels more complete doesn't it?
