Oil change for Fabia SDi...?

Featured Replies

Time has come to for me to change the change the engine oil. Planning to do the job in the next hour or so.

I've purchased the necessary oil and oil filter. Instead of the regular oil filters I'm used to dealing with, this oil filter is simply a filter element. I'm guessing the oil filter casing is retained but the old element is removed for the new filter to be fitted. How does it come apart?

Had a brief look under the car a while ago and noticed there is a cover attached beneath the engine. I'm guessing this needs to be removed before an oil change is performed? If so is any specialist tools required to do so?

Also how much oil is required to fill the engine with the using the new oil filter?

Lastly is there anything else that it does differently on this engine when changing the oil compared to other engines?

Many thanks. :)

Anyone...?

Yes you need the cover off, torx screws I think. If you haven't got a 36mm socket you need one to undo the top of the filter housing which is situated at the front of the engine, it also needs to be torqued up properly afterwards. New copper washer is needed for the sump plug. 4.3 litres with new filter.
