Hi!

I am a new person on this forum. I joined it because I just bought a Brand new Skoda Yeti 2 liter Diesel 4x4 140 BHP Elegance Model. I live in India - Bangalore in fact.

I have owned some sort of a jeep-ish vehicle most of my life and went for the Yeti because it offers a superb compromise for a 'jeep' person who lives in an urban environment. It is a brilliant little beast and I have been following it ever since it was launched in Europe 2 years back. I prefer crossover/jeep type vehicles/SUV's because we do frequent driving holidays to the hilly places around Southern India where we live. In addition the roads in our city require a vehicle with a higher ground clearance than normal.

At first I got myself the wall paper for my laptop and followed all the YouTube videos etc. Then I got myself a few scale models of the Yeti to add to my collection and kept peering at them just to feel good.

Many hours of research, lots of agonizing on our forum, team-bhp, plenty of visits to the showroom, sneaked in after golf on saturdays and hours of discussions, cribbing and negotiations with the two dealers here in my home city, caused me to become quite clear in my mind that the Yeti was 'it' for me!

I watched the Jeremy Clarkson review of it on Top Gear in March while on a visit to England and I guess that was to be a sub conscious 'tipping point' for me in favor of the Yeti, because I 've been obsessed with it ever since. This show was on BBC Entertainment here in India around 2 months ago and I must have made a decision around then! So I went off and bought one last week!

Mine is in Brilliant Silver and is the top end version sold in India. 2 liter diesel which develops 140BHP and comes with 4x4 and the lovely Haldex Clutch system.

I am extremely pleased with it!

Yes it is a bit short on space compared with my earlier vehicle, the Mahindra Scorpio and yes, the Yeti fails the lateral golf bag test, which I follow when buying a car. But this is a compromise that I have chosen to live with in view of the Yeti's simple brilliance in all other places where it matters!

I can probably take only one of my dogs at a time to the vet in my Yeti but I don't mind making the three trips this would require to get all of them there, because the vehicle is so nice to drive!

Else there are just the 2 of us- my wife and me and I think the luggage space available for all our paraphernalia is just fine, even on a driving holiday! We did rent a Subaru Forester on our last driving holiday in England and really enjoyed that. While that vehicle is really lovely in many ways, I think the Yeti's torque and handling simply trumps it!

So that's me and my LittleBigFoot and I would like to request your help with information and inputs with this truly lovely car and my ownership experience.

Thanks!

Shankar.
