Wondering about 18" wheels

I've gone down to 16" for my winters and i'm really enjoying the smoother ride, 17's were just right for handling and comfort, would of thought 18's would be alot harsher

Same here and I know what you mean. The 16" steelies I'm running have made the ride a bit better, but I've always wanted some 18s and I think that until I've had my fix, I won't settle. Mind you, I also really like the look of the steels and wondered about banded 16s.(one extreme to another eh? :D )

I'll look after your Spiders for you Andrew. :giggle:

I bet you would. :p

I always wondered about 9x16" borbet A's or was consider rota grids in 9.5x18" to get the concave face. Neither have been done before on an octy

I can't say that I noticed any difference in handling or fuel consumption when I went from 17's to 18's but then again I wasn't to bothered lol.

M06's are an awesome wheel and would suit the octy but by god there expensive. Why not get your spiders painted a different colour if your after a change? Cheaper than new wheels n tyres and pick the right colour and it'll transform the look of the car.

Most colours go with black aswell

If my 18's don't sell there being painted purple to go on our lass's black golf B)

Finding exactly the same. Nice at 70mph and over the rough stuff but a bit squidgy on the twisty bits :p

Part of me wants to do something a bit different and I'm torn between CH reps, banded steels and some Snowflake reps. The last two I haven't seen much on an Octavia, but the CH reps has been done quite a bit. Mind you, they are a really nice wheel. Best not rush into it eh?

I was offered some 18" banded steels a while ago and they looked ace and didn't stay for sale long.

I'm not ola fan of the CH's tbh been done to death a million times over, there's much nicer wheels out there.

There are some on Wheel-Whores.com at the moment, but they are in need of some work apparently. I quite like the look though,

Mind you, I'm quite smitten by these too...

It's a world of choices. I haven't got the cash to make the wrong one, so I have to consider every option over and over.

18" are fine, what's up with you lot. :giggle:

getting older and your back's are hurting eh.....

My 18 RS4's have been fine even with my lowered stance. The collies are on their limit though, so as i like car low are being replaced with KW's'

If you are on a budget it would cost you quite a bit getting your std 17" repainted verses a second hand set of 18".

I have been quoted £80 per wheel to get my RS4's repainted in anthracite.

you are spoiled for choice though if you have the funds. I like the CH's but will like to get TD pro race 1.2's. But these are expensive with good tyres. :'(

I've been quoted £30-£50 per wheel to get my 18's painted PURPLE ready to go on the golf

mind you Dave used to be Fatty5000 has a few sets too. :giggle:

Oi I'm not like you lol

I got two sets of Spiders thats all, one tatty black set for winter, and my mate still has the others waiting for paint( over I year now lol, my fault not his)

That blue mk4 is unreal!!

18's are great size for the octy and always had a soft spot for rota grids but you have to go 9.5 all round to get the dished look, was looking into getting them before but ended up buying my splits instead which I feel was the right choice but do really like grids and think they can make a car look really aggressive, hopefully someone will do it one day so I can see how it looks :)

I did look into it and spoke to rare wheels about squeezing the 9.5's under the octavia arches as I can't see why they'd go on the golf and not the octy?

It was a case of a drive down south 5-6 hours to trail and error fitting but nothing came of it and it would have been a long day.

Someone needs to do it definitely

Not bent??? Neither is it a Photoshop!

Actual wheels on an actual car. Maybe it's the camera angle.

Still the dogs danglies either way.

Not sure my budget would even buy one of those wheels! They're massive - are they 19s?

I have some 18" for sale that came on my car when i bought it.

Black alloys with new(ish) tyres - loads of tread left.

Let me know if youre interested and I'll get photos :)

9.5x18's B)

It's only the 9.5's that come with the concave face and are worth getting

I told myself that I would be the one to stick a proper set of Rota Grid Drifts on an Octavia.

But i really cannot afford to do it. :(

Someone has too! It'd look bloomin' epic!
