Hi Guys

Need little bit of advise. I've managed to purchase a very cheap set of silver Gigaro's 17'' for £230.00 inc. delivery (well happy about that) but need to but some tyres and not really sure about the size. Did some research but couldn't find anything...Can you help guys..?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you talk about the wheels of vRS the recommended tyre size for the vRS is 205/40/R17.

Yes, newbie69, the vRS mk2 wheels...Thanks

...tyre size for the vRS is 205/40/R17.

As long as the rolling radius is within 2.5% of the original size you have a few options

Tyre Size Diameter Circumference Fits Wheel Rim Difference

---------- -------- ------------- -------------- ----------

215/35 R17 582 mm 1828 mm 7x17 to 8.5x17 -2.4 %

225/35 R17 590 mm 1854 mm 7.5x17 to 9x17 -1 %

205/40 R17 596 mm 1872 mm 7x17 to 8.5x17 -0 %

215/40 R17 604 mm 1898 mm 7x17 to 8.5x17 1.4 %

and don't forget if you fit say 215/35/17 on the cars the ride height is essentially lowered by about 12mm, but don't forget the tyres will fill the arches less so you wouldn't notice that much but the car will sit lower to the ground

I wouldn't dare fitting 215/35/17 due to the extremely low profile. Ride is quite harsh as it is with 40. If deviating from the OEM size I would be going 45 to be honest...

The differences quoted above are against the standard vRS wheel and tyre, so not sure if they will be accurate against your OEM wheels and tyres.

205/40 R17s on mine, well would be except that I have steel rims and winters on currently.

Thanks a lot guys, any of you knows a cheap place to buy some tyres in Kent area...I'll probably go with the standard tyre size (205/40/R17) as I don't want to damage the suspension on my Fabia, it's already factory lowered as it's Fabia MK2 Sport so I assume changing my 16'' to Gigaro vRS 17'' will visually lower the car anyway.

The ride height change to that from the standard 205/40/17 would be just 6.7mm, not 12mm.

This is right on the outside of what's tolerable though - There are better sizes available!

Best bet is for 205/40/17 - especially if they car currently has 205/45/16's
