Parking sensors

Featured Replies

when i was out today one of my parking sensors got bit emotional and broke (constant solid beep all the time) the car is booked into skoda anyway tomorrow for other reasons (reliable... :dull: ) so i rung them and asked to put it on the to-do list.

it did it few times whenever i put it into reverse but just been to the shop and had to reverse off my drive and everything seems fine now :S can dirt affect them? the car is mucky but not anything major or is it just one of those things that rears it ugly head some times?

iv got used to my sensors now and i dont like reversing without them :giggle:

Hi ive got the rear sensors on my octavia, and trust me if the problem was dont to dirt mine would go haywire lol, my cars a company car and i cover alot miles and it gets a wash maybe every two-three months, sometimes longer and ive never had any issues, prob a faulty sensor, get the boys down at skoda to take a look.

I had that happen once, it was working again the next day and has not happened again. I suspect something in there got a bit damp. Wax the car occasionally which has probably helped waterproof them a bit so perhaps that's why it hasn't happened since.

well this is what i thought as the car has been much more dirty then what it is now but with all the salt on the road now i thought it was worth asking.

well i know what skoda will say ''working fine now..''

After washing the car my park sensors go wacky, a Quick dry with a hair dryer sorts 'em

If there is anything blocking the view of the sensors then they will give the solid beep as that is what they are sensing. Do you have the pictogram on the radio when you select reverse? That will show you which sensor is giving the signal. If it does happen again then the first thing to try is to give the sensors give a quick wipe and see if that helps before calling in the cavalry.

yeah it was the furthest one to the right hand side, i was going to but my mother was impatient and wanted to go xmas shopping :dull:

seems to be fine now, its going to get annoying if it keeps getting emotional!

Water is the problem

Well with the weather we are going to be having over this week then if water is the problem you will soon find out!!

ian

One of mine does it sometimes, tonight the helpful Mike (cheers Mike) had it hooked up to VCDS and there's no sensor fault showing so, I'll dry them properly sometime and Vaseline behind them. It's no use taking it in to my dealers as it's been in twice already and has been returned to me on both occasions with a 'no problem found' response. The fact that I tell them it does it every time it's wet or extremely cold obviously isn't good enough :wall:

i think ill do abit of water proofing and see if this helps!

thanks guys

Yep water. Hopefully the hair dryer trick will work. The last car I had with them I used silicon water repellant coating spray on them (bought from a boating supplies shop)

A year later they went again and I got bored and pulled the wires off ;) fixed for ever!
