Photoshop: How do I . ..

Featured Replies

Ok, i`m trying to change the colour of my wheels using the colour replace tool thingy, but because my wheels are white, they only do a few bits of the wheel, leaving most of the wheel white still. Anyone know how or what settings I need to change to do the brighter bits?

Cheers

I tend to steer clear of colour replace as i've never actually found it to work correctly.

I use the magic wand selection tool with a mediumish tolerance to select as much of just the wheel as possible (with white wheels a low telerance shodul work althogh it might end up seletecing the disc as well)

Once you ahve the relevant sections selected I then copy it into a new layer, and use the sliders under Image > Adjustments > Levels to play with the colour make up

I tend to duplicate the layer, replace the colour - setting the tolerance right up, then delete the rest of the duplicated layer

There are loads of different techniques.

I find Select > Colour range > Hue and Colour Balance works quickest

Excellent, thanks for the replies and the very handy link! Managed to put yellow pro race 3`s on my mates fabia SE for him. I was going to make my car white (currently black) then colour the wheels dark grey/antercite, but i`v decided to just change the wheel colour on Trevor`s fabia next :giggle:

Thanks all
